A MONTH LATER, the new livery pictures had been released and Ferrari fans were eager to see action. Finally, the time had come, the time for lights out, signaling the first race of the year was underway.

In Bahrain, Charles had managed to qualify fourth and Carlos eighth. The energy in the garage was buzzing, as final preparations were made for the race.

Reina, silent like a cat, wove her way around the garage, taking pictures of the engineers, pit crew, Mattia, and the drivers. A couple other media crew members, including a videographer and Marcello, were there too.

Reina snapped photos as she watched Carlos slip on his balaclava and his helmet. He lowered himself into the car, sinking into his seat.

Trying her best not to distract him, she quietly took some pictures of him inside the car. All she could see were his eyes, but admittedly, they were gorgeous. The light reflected off of them in such a way that made his brown irises glow.

Finally, Carlos was given the signal to pull out of the garage, and as he drove away, Reina swore he gave her a wink.

The drivers all lined up in the grid, and finally, the race began. Fifty-six exhilarating laps, filled with passes, DNFs, and screaming fans, finally brought the first race of 2021 to a close. Both Ferrari drivers managed to score points.

Back in the Ferrari garage, hugs and high-fives were traded as people celebrated not just for the first points of the season, but Carlos's first points with Ferrari. Reina, again, moved about, snapping images of this occasion. The garage was packed with people high-fiving, loudly conversing, and discussing potential updates for the car for well over an hour after the race.

Finally, the garage died down and people moved to the paddock. Reina approached Carlos, who came out of his driver room, drinking water. His back was turned to her, fiddling with the door handle.

"Congratulations," said Reina, tapping his shoulder.

He turned around. When he recognized her, he smiled. "Thank you."

"I told you that Ferrari was the right place for you," she beamed, hands clasped behind her back. "You did great."

Carlos laughed. "Thank you. I guess that you're my lucky charm."

Reina shook her head. "No... no luck. Just your skill got you points today."

Carlos looked down, grinning. "Well... we are actually going out. Charles, his girlfriend, and some other drivers, I think. To celebrate my skill, you know..."

Reina raised her eyebrow, giving a small laugh.

"Well... did you want to come, maybe?" he asked. "I remember the last time we went out... you know. Death by truck is not pretty."

"I would love to come," Reina replied. "I promise I'll be on my best behavior. No Ibiza repeats."

So, after the podium ceremony, in the dark of night, everyone agreed to meet at a local club.

"Come on," beckoned Carlos.

He led her to a valet, where a gorgeous red Ferrari convertible was parked. He opened the door for her, holding out his hand to help her step in.

"Ooh, merci," she joked, giving a curtsy before stepping into the car.

Following the joke, Carlos bowed, replying, "Of course, my lady."

He walked over to the driver's side of the car, starting the engine and buckling his seatbelt. Just as the car was about to pull away, something began to flash outside of the car. Cameras.

"It's Carlos! Carlos! Over here!" shouted someone outside of the car.

"Who's the girl?" another shouted.

Carlos groaned. "Paparazzi."

As quickly as he could without running anybody over, he drove away, trying to avoid the cameras as much as possible.

"Do they do that often?" asked Reina after a few minutes.

Carlos shrugged. "It's been happening more now that I've signed with Ferrari."

Reina frowned. "I'm sorry. That must be annoying."

"I don't mind as much. But I'm more sorry that by this time tomorrow, everyone will know your name. I'm afraid that paparazzi are very talented at invading people's privacy."

Nevertheless, the two made a quick pit stop at the hotel before heading to the club to freshen up and change.

"I'll be back in... thirty minutes?" asked Carlos, dropping Reina off at her room.

"Sounds good," she smiled.

Closing her door, Reina changed. She didn't have many options, but she luckily did think to at least bring a few dresses. She let down her hair, which had been up all day for work, and brushed the strands out. Adding some extra makeup, accessories, and slipping on a pair of heels, she deemed herself ready.

She decided to ring up Sofia because she had about five minutes left.

"Sofie! Cómo estás?" asked Reina. (How are you?)

"Mal. Es tan aburrido aquí sin ti!" replied Sofia over the phone. (Bad. It is boring here without you!)

Reina laughed. "Ay, te extraño." (I miss you)

"Tambien te extraño," replied Sofia. "Hoy vi la carrera." (I miss you too. I watched the race today.)

"Fue tan excitante," said Reina. "Es mucho más rápido en persona." (It was exciting. It is much faster in person.)

Sofia sighed. "Estoy celosa..." (I'm jealous...)

Reina laughed. "No te preocupes. Puedes venir al de España conmigo." (Don't worry. You can come to the one in Spain with me.)

"En serio?" exclaimed Sofia. "Ah! Te amo!" (Seriously? Ah! I love you!)

Reina laughed. "Por supesto. Tambien te amo." (Of course. I love you too.)

A knock sounded at Reina's door.

"Él está aquí temprano. Me tengo que ir, Sofia," said Reina. (He is here early. I have to go, Sofia.)

"¿Quién?" asked Sofia. (Who?)

Reina scratched her forehead. "Er... Carlos."

"Carlos Sainz?!" Sofia screeched. "Qué estás haciendo?" (What are you doing?)

"Vamos a un club," explained Reina. (We are going to a club.)

"Qué estás esperando, ve!" (What are you waiting for? Go!)

Reina laughed. "Okay, okay. Adiós."
