(Kate Stewart lived with her abusive father. Her mom died 3 years ago, so she was stuck with him.)

“I’m hungry!” my father told me. He was sitting on the old couch watching football.

“Yes father, I’ll go make you some eggs,” I quietly said. I walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. There weren’t any eggs there.

What am I going to do?

I forgot to buy more eggs.

What if he gets mad?

I thought real hard of what I should do.

I figured he would be madder if I didn’t get him eggs, considering they’re his favorite.

I walked back into the living.

“What do you want?” he barked at me.

“I-I have to go buy some eggs,” I confessed. His stood up from the couch and slapped me.

“Why are you such an idiot? Why didn’t you buy some earlier?” he asked.

“I-I’m sorry! I forgot,” I explained.

He pushed me, and I landed on the ground. My back still hadn’t recovered from last time, so it felt like needles getting my back.

I let out a small groan. “Now go get me my food!” he yelled at me.

I pulled myself up from the floor and hurried out the door.

As I walked back home I heard a weird sound. I walked over to a dark alley and I my jaw dropped.

There was a man biting a woman’s neck.

“Please!” she begged. The man ignored her and kept biting.

I hid behind the wall and peeked my head to see what was happening.

Her eyes slowly closed and she fell to the ground.

The man wiped him mouth with his sleeve.

I quickly stuck my head in before he saw me.

What just happened?

I slowly poked my head back out.

 He was gone.

 Where could he have gone?

He was just there.

Wait a second.

He was just biting that woman's neck. What if he was a- no, he couldn’t be.

 There’s no such thing!

I realized the woman was still there, and ran to her.

“Are you okay?” I asked. There was no response, so I turned her head to see what he did.

My eyes practically fell out of my head.

There were two small holes on her neck.

I slowly stepped back and bumped into the wall.

I was speechless.

There’s no such thing.

There couldn’t be.

But…what else could explain this?

I grew up thinking it wasn’t real. Now, I’ve seen it right in front of me.

What am I supposed to do?

John! (My father)

I had forgotten all about him.

I raced back home with the eggs and when I got there he slaped me for being late. Then, I prepared the eggs and gave it to them.

“Next time you’re late you’ll see what’ll happen to you!” he yelled.

I ran to my room and closed the door. I looked in my mirror and both my cheeks had a hand print on them.

I still couldn’t believe what I saw yesterday.

Was it real, or was it just a dream?

Maybe I just made it all up in my head..

Either way, I had to find out if vampires were real, and I had a plan.

I walked over to a dark-ish valley and waited. My plan was very simple: Wait for a vampire to come.

I realized it was the dumbest thing I ever thought.

What? A vampire was just going to come out of nowhere and get me? It wasn’t possible. Maybe what I saw yesterday really was a dream.

I sighed and started walking back towards school, but before I could, I saw someone walked towards me.

I looked closer and saw it was a man. I could barely see him, but I had a feeling he wasn’t coming over to say “hi”.

Maybe he was just going somewhere that I just happened to be walking by.

I slowly started to walk again.

As I got closer to him, I realized that my plan wasn’t so dumb.

The guy walking towards me was the guy from yesterday.

I stopped and slowly turned around, and walked the other way.

I realized that if he killed the girl from yesterday, why would he spare me?

I started walking faster, and turned to look if he was still there.

And of course, he was right on my track  walking faster too.

Soon enough, I was running for my life. As I ran, I saw there was a dead-end. I turned around and the guy was coming closer and closer.

I started breathing faster. It looks like this is the end.

Curiosity killed the cat, I laughed to myself.

Goodbye world.

The man was soon only a couple feet away.

“Why, hello there my dear,” he said.

I gulped and said, “h-hi.”

He chuckled and got closer.

“My, my, what’s a young girl doing all by herself?” he asked.

“U-Um, to be honest I was kind of waiting for someone like you,” I told him.

He looked a little confused but said, “How do you know what I am?”

“Well, I was walking the other day and s-saw you, um,” I began.

“Oh, I knew I smelled a young one’s blood,” he smiled.

“W-What are you going to do to me?” I asked.

“Well, since you already got I sneak peek yesterday, what do you think?” he asked. I widened my eyes.

I felt like I was going to throw up.

He leaned in closer, and touched my cheek.

“Now, this will only hurt a little,” he laughed.

I shut my eyes and waited. But before anything else could happen, I felt his hand leave my face.

I opened my eyes and saw him on the floor, with another guy standing close to him.

He was turned around, so I couldn’t see his face.

“Don’t touch her,” he said to the guy on the floor.

The guy from yesterday looked nervous. “O-Okay,” he said.

I was so confused.
