It was three days later, and there was no sound at all. Curtis kept looking at the ground as the preacher said untrue words about how nice Jerry was.
"This man helped save many lives in his time here on Earth. And it's a shame he had to leave us this way."
Curtis heard Erik and Kaley scoff at this. He may have "saved" some lives, be he sure as hell ruined more than one. Soon, the preacher was inviting people to Jerry's closed coffin. They were outside and the hole was already freshly dug. Erik held Curtis' hand, kissing him lightly on the cheek. Things had happened between the two over those days. They weren't "dating" just yet, it was just too soon, but they knew that it was coming. A few fellow doctors and friends came up to give a final farewell before Jerry was lowered to the ground. Now, Curtis had been absolutely fine. Well, as fine as one can be in a situation like that... But suddenly something in his brain just... Snapped. Jerry. Jerry was leaving him. Leaving him for good and never coming back. He was done forever. Curtis didn't seem to have control as he shot up and sprinted to the coffin. Erik and Kaley's eyes widened in surprise as Curtis completely broke down, screaming and crying.
"St-Stop! Don't t-take him away, please!" Curtis cried, "I-I can't-!"
Erik ran up to comfort Curtis as the sideburned man pushed the men away who were trying to bury his ex-boyfriend. Erik pulled him into a hug, not letting him go when he struggled against the hold. Curtis ran out of strength quickly, hugging Erik and crying. Curtis knew he wasn't crying because he wanted Jerry back, really... He just didn't know any other life without him and that made Curtis scared. Erik shushed him, Curtis calming down and weakly walking back over to sit with Erik. He actually felt better now, getting that all out. Erik shushed him, telling him everything was going to be ok. And it was. Because even though it hadn't been quite what it seemed... It was going to get better for the sideburned man.
