River

Beneath the sky's vast expanse,
A winding ribbon of water doth dance,
Through fields and forests, it doth meander,
The river is a constant and tireless commander.

Its waters shimmer in the sun's warm light,
Reflecting the world like a mirror bright,
Its currents carry tales untold,
Of secrets kept by the young and old.

The river flows through towns and cities,
A lifeline for all, both worthy and needy,
Its banks are alive with flora and fauna,
A sanctuary for creatures, big and small.

Yet, in its depths lies a murky truth,
Of pollution, neglect, and abuse,
Man's greed and folly have taken their toll,
On the river, a precious and vital soul.
