You are an intern for Mat, and he helps you through an anxiety attack! If that is triggering for you feel free to skip!

It was your gap year before starting university and you were looking for something to put on your application to up your chances of getting into your dream university. You were going to major in film and you knew that you needed a good internship to put on your resume. You knew that the internet would be the future of film. YouTube is already making original shows, you knew exactly who you wanted to work for over the summer. Matpat. He sent out an ad asking for a new editor to work on Game Theory videos. You knew this would score you your place at the university you've been dreaming of since middle school. You sent in your application, and you made it to the interviewing stage. You were quite nervous since this was a celebrity that you would be speaking to in person. You had been a fan of Game Theory, not a dye hard fan, you just enjoyed the theories. You were quite awkward at the interview, you were also very anxious. Bouncing your leg, picking at your hands, you were sweating so much you thought he might see it running down your forehead. You thought that you definitely weren't going to get the job.

"Congrats, Y/n! You got the job, I'm looking forward to having you as a part of the team!" none other than Mathew Patrick's voice rang through your phone. When he had called you, you expected that he just wanted to let you know to keep looking, and maybe to tell you that you were a nervous wreck, but that might just be your anxiety getting the best of you. You always assume the worst and are unhealthily dedicated to pleasing the people around you. Tomorrow will be your first day with the theorist team.

*Time skip to tomorrow lol*

You didn't go anywhere, he just sent you a video to edit. This helped your anxiety a bit. You worked practically the whole day on the video even though you had nearly a week to complete. You wanted to make a good impression on your boss, and your overwhelming fear of disappointing people made it hard to focus on anything but the project. You got the draft done that day and sent it to him to go over and make suggestions. There was some back and forth and some chatting and by the end of the second day the video was done. You had made a good impression, and maybe a blooming friendship with Mat.

*Time skip to a few months cuz I'm lazy*

It had been a few months and you worked more closely with Mat, and had even become friends somewhat. You were editing a video together at his house, it wasn't going very well because there were currently internet issues at his house, and you were tired because you've been working on it since 8 and it's currently 2. You keep blaming yourself when something doesn't save, or it lags. Mat is also currently getting frustrated, you feel like it's directed at you, when in reality it's not. You zone into your work blocking Mat and the rest of the outside world out. Every little mistake makes you panic, and Mat starts to get worried. "Hey, y/n, are you alright?" He asks in a soft, concerned voice. That one sentence sends you over the edge and you start to really panic. You feel like it's all your fault that you've been working so late and he hasn't gone to bed. Your breathing starts to get heavy and it gets hard to breathe. You start to sob out apologies as your vision starts to get a bit blurry for tears, and your lack of oxygen. You start to shake a bit, and for a minute you forget about Mat's presence, you forget about yourself. The world around you doesn't feel real and you start to panic more. Mat gently grabs your shoulder, "Hey, hey look at me. It's ok." Mat soothes in a calm voice, "It's going to be ok, we'll get it done soon." You calm down a bit, to the point you can talk, but you still have to take in a deep breath between syllables. "I'm sorry that I haven't been able to get the video done. I'll get it done tonight! I promise!" You sobbed out, "Hey, hey it's not your fault ok! Calm down, I'm not mad." He comforts. He pulls you into his arms and holds you in an embrace until you calm down. It's 3 by now, and you offer to head home and let him sleep, he insists that you don't drive right now and let's you stay in the guest room. You two finish the video the next day,

wow 800 something words lol -Raccoon
