Ruby

Chapter II

When Ruby woke up the next day, she got her outfit on which was black fishnet leggings with a pink skirt and crop top. No hat today. She grabbed the pamphlet that she was given yesterday and went off to her first class. She walked all the way across the campus. When she got there, there was a seating chart on the projector. The layout was much like a movie theater. With stairs on the sides and middle with rows with letters and seats with numbers. Ruby looked at the seating chart. Seat E5. She walked up the stairs, A, B, C, D... and counted the seats 1, 2, 3, 4.....

She sat down and placed her bags on the desk that she was assigned. Once everyone got there, a man walked up to the front of the room.

"Hello." He said with a very monotone voice "
I am M. Malachite. You can just call me Mal. I am your gem history teacher. I am going to pass out syllabuses. Once we go over the syllabus, you can have a free day. It's gonna be very easy this first day."

He walked through the middle row handing out piles of papers to each row. He started going over the syllabus with them the whole class period. As he read, Ruby took notes on his character. He was a 35 year old man who is no-nonsense and very religious. Like humans, the Dommisi have a religious system. It is very similar, almost exactly like the system of religion that we are familiar with. He was very Catholic. He has 2 children and a wife of whom he is divorced from.

For the rest of the class, Ruby thought about all of the other gems that surrounded her. Pearl, Diamond, even Sapphire! All were very high class. Even though she was one of the higher class gems, Ruby didn't know that. Her family was very sheltered. Ruby felt honored to be with other high class gems. Although, what she didn't know was that some of the gems below her, looked up to her.

Ruby was bored and began socializing with the people around her. The boy next to her, was a sapphire. The 2nd most powerful gem. She was just below him.

"Hey! You're a Sapphire right?" Ruby said.
"Yea. Ruby right?" The boy said
"Yep!"
"Some guts you have talking to people above you."
"Oh! Sorry.."
"Oh no! I respect it! That's pretty cool but just try not to pull that on a diamond."
"What's so special about diamonds?"
"Well, they are the highest class. With you being 3rd-"
"Wait. I, a Ruby, am 3rd most powerful?"
"Well yea. In terms of class. Did you think that you were the lowest your whole life?"
"Kind of. My parents raised me very sheltered. I didn't even know about class until coming here."

Ruby and Sapphire started talkie the whole rest of the class. They had became friends. Ruby couldn't believe it. Her first ever friend.
