"I know, let me talk to Hunter and I will get back to you, okay?" She paused and listened. "I agree Mallory, it's completely unacceptable."
"Uh oh." Niko said, looking up at his dad.
Hunter sighed and closed the book he had been reading to the little boy. "Yeah. Your sister is really cruising."
Amy got off the phone and walked over to the bed. She pulled her little boy down by his feet and tickled them. "Time for bed."
"Aren't you going to tuck me in?" Niko asked.
Hunter got out of bed and scooped up his little boy. "Momma's got her thinking face on. It's just us tonight." He held Niko out so Amy could kiss their oldest boy's forehead.
"I love you Lion."
"Love you momma " Niko said.
When Hunter came back in from putting Niko to bed, he found his freshly showered wife sitting on their bed.
"Hit me with it." He said, flopping down on his stomach in front of her.
"I talked to my boss today about hiring a senior rep at work..." Hunter watched her face. Sometimes, when it came to Niko and Emma, Hunter liked to wait and see how long Amy would take before getting to the main point. "He said that was fine, and I could post the listing..."
"And you said you already had someone for the job?" Hunter said.
"Yes, and he told me that if I felt confident in this person, then I could hire them." Amy said.
"She's good at her job...are you sure even with the antics Lorena is going to let her go?" Hunter asked.
"I think Mallory is on the verge of firing her...I guess her mouth has really gotten out of control in the last couple of months."
Hunter scowled at that. "So that's all squared away, now quit stalling and ask what you really want to ask..."
Amy started biting the edge of her fingernail. "Well it just makes sense that she would move in right? It's not an easy town to find housing in."
He knew it was coming but still groaned. "Didn't we do our job? We got the kid through high school, started her in college, that she dropped out of, if you remember. All for that idiot boy."
Amy sat patiently while her husband ranted. She knew that he missed her too. This was the longest they had gone without seeing her since she was 14. "She just broke up with Jace." Amy supplied, hoping that would ease his temper.
"I guess the boys do miss her..." Hunter said. "Fine she can have the guest room by Luca."
Amy tried hard not to roll her eyes at the man. "I was thinking she could have the basement, a little like an apartment."
"Does she deserve an apartment? It sounds like she deserves a whipping." Hunter told her, looking seriously at his wife. "Maybe she starts up in the room next to Luca and if she does well, then she can move downstairs..."
"It doesn't make sense to move her around a bunch. You know that Emma will fight harder to keep a reward, than to avoid a punishment anyway."
Hunter stood up, knowing his wife wanted to call Emma. "Fine, but we need to crack down. She's almost 21, and shouldn't be screwing around like this the second we aren't there. If she moves in, it's under strict rules so that the little birdie can fly."
Amy nodded in agreement. "I agree. We can talk to her about it when she comes to visit next weekend."
"Let me guess, we're gonna spend this weekend getting the basement ready?" Hunter asked as he walked off to the bathroom. "You spoil her too much."
