also I've been really busy recently so I haven't been playing or reading up on the lore so hes probably ooc sorry 🙏
you always admired yanqing even before he asked you to be his partner, for being so young and yet so talented with a blade
you, of course, also used a sword, but you were... not exactly the best but not the worst either, just inbetween
and yanqing knew of this, which is why he was always there for when you trained, not only because he was a good teacher, but because he was worried you'd hurt yourself like you did in the past
you would reassure him you'd be fine, and he didn't believe you, but he was busy today as you trained, leaving you alone for at least a couple hours
did i mention you were a perfectionist? you always strived for the best and accepted nothing less of perfecting each craft you laid your eyes on
but this also meant you tend to work yourself past your limit, which is another reason why yanqing preferred to watch you, so he could drag you away when he notices you're tired, knowing you wouldn't leave unless you were to pass out
even then, you'd insist you're fine
and that's what happened today, you learnt a new trick by watching your boyfriend in a duel, and watched to learn it yourself, but it was getting increasingly more difficult as time passed by
why couldn't you just perfect it? if he could do it, why can't you?
you were beginning to feel the weight of the many attempts, you could tell you were slowly getting closer to your limlt, but you paid it no mind
but a certain male walked inside and crossed his arms as he stared at your form
"you're doing it wrong" you startled and dropped your sword at the unexpected voice
"yanqing! i thought you said you wouldn't be back until nightfall?"
he gave an worriesome look to you "y/n...when did you start training?"
you placed your hand on your hip as you thought "it's only been...like" how long had it been since you woken up? it had to have been only like, two hours, right?
"y/n, it's already nightfall, in fact, almost everyone has returned to their rooms already" he sighed and walked closer to you "you've been here since you woke up, haven't you? this is why i told you not to come in today"
he looked worried and it made you guilty "i... I'm sorry, i didn't realize it was so late..."
he grabbed your hands and tugged you closer to him, entrapping you in a hug "i worry for you, what if something happens when I'm not here? what if its too much for you one day? i can't let anything happen to you, okay? you're.. prescious to me"
"I couldn't stand it if something happened to you..."
yanqing, always so caring for you, even when you do something stupid, he'd call you a idiot but still hold you gently as his heart raced
"come on, let's get you out of here, and you're not training tomorrow, either, okay?" he flicked your forehead, making you let out a small "ouch"
he dragged you all the way back to your rooms, making sure you were okay and checking all over to ensure you hadn't bruised yourself either, he really cared about you, more than anyone could ever know
