I sometimes sit and wonder

About different points of view

And how those sunsets over yonder

Affect the worms and the birds too

When dusk is finally over

And nature shows her hues

Reminds us how sap green and yellow ocher

Glows over me and you

Yet when everything is tougher

And divide runs through and through

I wonder if everything was worth it

But then I think of who

might be here or waiting there

in this period of blue

wishing for change found elsewhere

where boys don't ache for days renewed

standing under streetlights, unaware

of everyone they claimed they knew
