Ours was a chance encounter
that led to more.
The coffee we had,
the stories we shared,
I was enthralled,
for they meant the world to me.

Was I the only one?
Was it mere caffeine kick to you?
Don't you dare blame me
or ask me to apologize.
I was naive to think of you as my person,
someone I could turn to,
given sorrow or joy,
harships or luck.

It's clear as day,
I'm the only one who felt that way.
My coffee feels bitter
without your company
Not like I don't have any...

It ain't the coffee's fault, no, no.
Dark or milky
sweet or chocolaty
coffee was my comfort.
I clutch my cup,
the morning's fresh brew.
Eyes focused on view from the window,
my apologies go
not to you
but to the coffee,
my beloved
through everything.
