"Everyone has a secret. The real question is do you want to know it or not." -Siani Bradford.

Siani Bradford.

"Can we not do this now? I have to go." I plead to him while reaching for my phone.

"Nah, we gon' do it now." He said with a straight face then looked down at my phone in his hand. "So you gonna tell me who this is texting you like this?"

I sighed. "Dijon, that doesn't concern you nor is it your business. Now give me my phone back and just give me what I came here for."

"Si. You're my girlfriend. Did you seem to forget the part when we promised we'd be honest with each other?"

"I am being honest, and honestly it doesn't concern you. Its not your business who's texting my phone." I snapped.

Dijon's face went blank. "Aight cool." He tossed my phone to me so fast that I almost didn't catch it. "You know the way out."

"Dijon, don't be like--"

"You said you had to go so leave." He snapped moving to the edge of his bed. "The door right there in case you forgot."

I looked at the door then back at him and sighed while switching all my weight to one leg.

"The guy texting me was Ty. Yeah, remember him? My best friend? He was asking me what time to come today because he's coming to Cairo's birthday party. The one you said you weren't gonna come to because Cairo supposedly "hates you". Yeah apparently Ty actually makes an effort to spend time with me unlike you." I snapped.

Ty's name in my phone is a tiger emoji with a heart, but I don't see how Dijon didn't get that.

Dijon knows that Ty has been my best friend since forever, and by now I'd assume he understands the type of relationship we have. Thats just something that whoever I'm dating is gonna have to deal with.

I turned to walk out the door but then remembered what I came here for.

"Where's my stuff?" I asked.

Dijon looked like he wanted to say something but instead he just got up from his bed and walked over to his desk. He grabbed my water bottle from behind a few books and handed it to me.

It was nice and full.

"Thanks," I mumbled before heading towards the door again.

"Bae, I--" Dijon started.

"I'm already late Dijon, I'll talk to you whenever." I said without even looking back.

I left his room and headed downstairs only to be greeted by his mother coming through the front door.

"Oh, hey Siani! How you doing honey?" The heavyset woman asked me.

I smiled. "I'm good."

"I didn't know you were coming over. I thought it was little Cairo's birthday?"

"It is! I left my water bottle over here the other day so I just came to pick that up." I said flashing my water bottle.

She nodded. "Oh okay. Well tell Cairo I said happy birthday. I'll see you soon."

"Will do."

By the time I pulled up to the field Zaelyn's track practice was at, he was already waiting. He was with a few of his friends, Yvonne, Donny, and Chris.

I rolled down the window as I pulled up to them.

"Damn sis, you late as hell today!" Zaelyn exclaimed. "What happened?"
