33. Temple Run Or Treasure Hunt?

Start from the beginning

"Didi!!!" After running around for a good time he again ran back to her. This kid can't breathe without talking or what? Akshara couldn't help but smile as the boy ran off with his origami plane, proud of what he had just made. "I think this kid needs to work on his flying skills! Instead of disturbing her." I sighed, looking at him.

"Didi? Uncle gusse wala hain kya?" The kid was now intimidated by me. Only then did I realize that I was zoned out looking at the boy with a weird face. Before I could answer the woman beside me started laughing hysterically. Well, she always waits for this type of chance. I gave her a stern look and then turned back to the kid, "Bada wala khadoos hain." Akshara replied in a hurry, not giving me enough time to talk.

"Beta Aarav, idhar aao," I called the kid forward and handed him a chocolate that was lying on the table. I smiled at him awkwardly not knowing what to talk next. "Pehli baat agar mein doctor uncle hogaya toh woh mera wife hain, apkoo aunty hogi." I tried to strike up a conversation. I laughed and gave him a pat on the back.

"Nahi," He shook his head and rolled his eyes. No that's not the way a kid speaks to elders. "Kyu?" I retorted within a moment, wondering why he said no. He simply shook his head and shouted "NO NO NO."

"But why?" I grew annoyed with his stubbornness. "What do you mean 'no'?" I asked, my curiosity now piqued by his strong reaction. "Because she is pretty, mein bada hone baad uss se shaadi karunga." saying that the kid winked at me. HOW DARE HE!!! I was so shocked I nearly fell out of my chair! I thought to myself, "What kind of 8-year-old talks like that?!"

"Aarav Tumhara bat." Akshara walked back to the kid and handed over his bat which she brought from inside. "Aap mere girlfriend banogi?" He asked her with innocent eyes looking at her, She looked at him with the same puppy eyes with a pout. Scratch that expression, I want to kiss her now, God someone brings my brain back to normalcy. "Mere husband se permission lena," Saying this she turned towards me. Of course, why wouldn't she? After all, women love flaunting. I just stood there in shock and awe, thinking to myself, "Uncle yes bolo na." The kid continued to pester me, holding my hand. Before I could finish my sentence his mom came to take him back.

Finally bidding him goodbye and breathed in relief, looking at the potential threat to my place leaving. I couldn't help but smile and look at the kid as he waved goodbye. I felt threatened by him, how funny. But then, The threat could be anyone, so I need to discuss my feelings with her. Just propose to her? But is this too early?

"Your presentation is done?" I asked looking at her busy scrolling her mobile, She nodded and said, "Yes, it's done. I'm just uploading" With a satisfied smile, "Doctor uncle." The lady keeps adding ghee to the fire. "You were soo enjoying this, calling me uncle," I complained slumping further. She looked at me with a straight face and said, "Uncle nahi Abhimanyu, Doctor Uncle." Akshara started giggling and I couldn't help but laugh too. I realized that Akshara was truly in her element, feeling incredibly happy and content. I smiled automatically as well, at the end of the day her happiness and smile take whatever stress work gives these days.

"Look at your face." She got up and looked at me and then did something unexpected. Not a kiss, she threw the pillow on my face. The same country where women pray on the ground their partners walk on and here look at her throwing stuff at her tired husband.

Next Morning:

"Don't panic Akshu," She's walking to and fro, doing the exact opposite of what she says. I slowly walked towards her, trying to calm her down. I placed my hands on her shoulders and looked her in the eyes. "It's going to be okay. We'll figure it out," I said reassuringly.
