Chapter 7: FlashBacks

"You can stay here for the night to recover, but I need you out of here before the sun rises and the maids wake up."

"Maids?" Ace tilted his head curiously, questioning how fancy the place he was staying at was. "Actually, where am I?"

A sigh escaped my lips at how absent minded the man was. "You're on Sinthaya island. We're in the castle right now."

"Castle?!" Ace almost fell out the bed as he realized the importance of where he was staying at was.

I immediately hushed him and scolded him before he could wake up everyone in the castle. "Do you want to die?! If his majesty wakes up we're both going to be brutally murdered!"

"'His majesty'? So then are you one of his maids?"

My eyes darted to the side, contemplating wether I should tell him, but deciding not to so that he doesn't get any bright ideas. "Yes, now shut up before everyone wakes up."

A silence fills the air, wether it was a comfortable silence or an awkward silence was beyond me, but it was definitely new.

"Thank you."

My hand seemed to twitch at the smooth voice that broke the silence. I turned to face him only to see him smiling at me brightly.

"Without you, I probably would've died. So thank you, Y/n."

I feel heat rush to my cheeks as I turn away from him, not wanting him to see. There was something about his smile that I couldn't get out of my head. "You're welcome." I let out a sigh before heading towards the door. "Remember, out before the Sun rises. The storm should be calm by then."

"Is there anything I can do to repay you for your kindness?"

Take me away from here.

Is what I wanted to say. He seemed capable enough and strong enough to, but I knew better than to ask a stranger for help.

"Be out before sunrise." And with that I shut the door behind me and headed back to my room, ready to clock in for the night.

As I write in my journal the events of yesterday, tiny and quiet thuds hit my window. When I go to inspect the sound I see Ace standing outside, pebbles in hand ready to throw another one.

"Ace? What the hell are you doing?" I spoke in a hushed whisper but one loud enough for him to hear.

"I got bored! And I didn't know where to go!" Ace grinned at me foolishly before climbing up the castle to reach my balcony.

"What are you doing?!" I watched him as if he grew three heads, before looking around and making sure he didn't get caught. "Are you crazy?"

He finally got to my balcony and propped himself up, grinning at me once more. "Yeah a little."

My hand slaps my forehead as I facepalm at the stupid action that could've gotten both of us in trouble. I quickly follow him inside my room, turning around to close the balcony doors. "How did you even know I was in this room?"

"Ah. Um, I didnt."

My head shoots up at the stupid statement, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What?"

He chuckled at himself, walking around and inspecting the room. "Yeah, its actually pretty funny, you see, I ended up throwing pebbles at every window until you finally showed up."

I instantly looked at him, bewildered at the tactic, but he just smiled like it was nothing. "What if someone saw you!"

He waved my off, sitting down on my bed and propping himself up with his two arms. His bandaged was changed and it didn't have the red stain of blood from before. "Don't worry, I ducked before anyone could see me."
