The next day, Caroline and Tyler come back in with a laptop and a sword.

I've been slowly siphoning the barrier, hoping to get out today.

"Well, if it isn't little orphan Lockwood. Come to show how laughably impotent you are against me?"

"I'm just trying to help my friends find the cure. Found this in your attic." He unwraps the sword and holds it up.

"And you think finding the sword brings you closer to the cure?" He tilts his head to the side.

"You tell me. I was playing around with the handle on the ride over... And I found this."

"And what do you think this is?"

"It's called a cryptex." They give her a look. "I've seen "The Da Vinci Code." You turn the different sides to the different symbols to get the translation on the other side. And, with the magic of the Internet, Elena sent over these." She holds up pictures of Jeremy's tattoo.

"So now all we have to do is cryptex away. If you happened to want to help, we wouldn't stop you."

"Right. Well, might I suggest using the magic of the Internet to purchase an Aramaic-to-English dictionary from your nearest retailer?"

"What's Aramaic?"

"It's a dead language. It hasn't been used since, like, biblical times."

"Qetsiyah's native tongue, I'm guessing. You know, even if you had the best dictionary in the world, it could take days to translate... Perhaps weeks."

I step in and say the next part with a smirk. "In bas so-teen-too ara-ma-eet."

Nik looks at me with a smirk as well. Caroline and Tyler look at each other with confusion. "What does that mean?"

"'If only you spoke Aramaic.'" Nik translates.

After Nik helps translate the tattoo, they call to give them the information. But before they can end it, he reveals that there is only one dose.

"Did you know that was going to happen?" I smirk and stay silent. "Did you?!"

"I know everything that will happen, Tyler."

"Then why didn't you help us or stop him?"

"I'm not going to help you raise Silas. As soon as I'm done siphoning the barrier, I am getting the hell out of here and letting him kill you all." I laugh.

He storms out, Caroline following him.

"You're leaving?" Nik asks sadly.

"I have to Nik. I can't stay here or I'd lose myself and kill them. I mean Jeremy will be killed any minute now by the hands of Silas but that doesn't make me feel any better. I have to start over."

"I'll come with you."

"No. Nik. You stay here and finish this. I'll be waiting for you."

"Do you need any help?"

"No. I have friends in New Orleans who will help me. I'm going to stay there until I can find out how to bring him back." I look down at the urn. "I know I can."

Caroline comes back in with tears in her eyes. "You can't kill Tyler."

"Yes he can."

"Vicki!" She says incredulously.

"What if I told you that keeping him alive will be worse than killing him. What if I told you he does something unforgivable and none of you even find out about it."

"What are you talking about? Like what?"

"Like killing a mother and her unborn child for revenge." She gasps and steps forward.

"Show me."

I secretly siphon the rest of the barrier and she steps closer to me, not realizing I did so. I put my hands on her head and she closes her eyes.

I glance back at Nik and nod my head to the door. He speeds out as I show her.

Tyler hauls Hailey over his shoulder and brings her into the cabin.

Tyler sticks a needle into her stomach, taking blood from her fetus.

Dwayne attacks Tyler after he lurches for her, before Tyler reaches into his chest and rips out his heart.

Tyler reaches for Hailey with a knife in his hand.

"Enough!" I pull my hands away and look at her. She has tears streaming down her face.

"Why would he do that?"

"His thirst for revenge drove him mad. I didn't even show you the part where he left you after breaking your heart to do this."

She looks around in shock. "Where did Klaus go?"

"It's for the best Care."

She nods and sits down to cry. She wanted to be left alone so I grabbed the urn and walked out the front door. I turn to the left and see Nik covered in blood, a heart in his hand, and a wicked smile on his face.

"I'm going to go pack."

"I'll meet you there once I've cleaned up."

I nod and keep walking. I pull out my phone and dial a number.

"Hello."

"Hey, I'm coming. Make sure the house is ready for me before I arrive."
