"Lo'ak no."

"Why? You're such a fucking bore sometimes." He yells at me as he runs through the forest, me hot on his tail. We left our Ikrans by the cliff because he claimed to have saw something over here.

"We're supposed to call it in Lo'ak, Dad's going to be pissed." I run after him, finally reaching him making sure that he stops. I hold on to his shoulders keeping him in place.

"What's the worst that can happen?" He asks stupidly.

"Oh I dunno we find humans, they shoot us, dad doesn't know because your dumbass won't call it in." I hit the back of his head, not to hard but just enough to rattle his brain a bit. He winces looking down.

"I just want to impress him." Damnit Lo'ak. Our dad has always had a special relationship with Lo'ak- not necessarily a bad one but just different. I think my dad is scared because Lo'ak is like a copy and paste of him.

"Then do things by the book, he'll respect it" I say, I don't want to be mean. I know Lo'ak has his own way of doing things but in our clan there are rules and in order to be accepted he must follow them.

All of a sudden I hear a ruffle in the bushes. I take the bow that's strung around me, putting it up.

"Call it in Lo'ak." I whisper as quietly as possible, analyzing everywhere- searching for the cause of the noise. Quietly I hear Lo'ak tell our dad our position, I also hear our dad scolding him which makes me roll my eyes.

Before I can even take a breath there's gunshots going off, piercing through the air. I tackle Lo'ak to the ground shielding him from the incoming bullets. Quickly I move him behind a tree, keeping him out of sight.

I lift the bow, aiming blindly hoping I hit someone or something. I hear a loud grunt telling me that I did in fact hit someone. I small smile makes its way to my face. It's not that I'm enjoying this I mean I'd be crazy if I did but I do find it somewhat exciting.

"You kids come out here and we won't hurt you!" A man's voice calls out to us.

Him? Hurt us?

He hasn't been able to touch us so far yet I've already hit one of his men.

"Lo'ak when I say run you're gonna go back to the Ikrans alright?" My breath gets heavy as I think about all the possibilities of how this could go. I can't let anything happen to Lo'ak, I would never forgive myself.

"What about you?" He asks panting loudly, fear evident on his face. I check his hole body for injuries making sure he's okay. I turn my back to him, shooting another arrow at them. "Dude you're bleeding."

"I'm fine. I'll distract them while you get out of here." I'm not shot I know that, probably just some scrapes from when I tackled Lo'ak. He gives me a look, scared. I've never seen Lo'ak look scared and I don't intend on seeing this face ever again. He hesitates a moment before taking off, jumping between the trees, trying his best to stay out of the way of the neverending strand of bullets.

I pray to Eywa that he gets to his Ikran safely.

I start whooping and yelling trying to draw their attention away from him. Men start coming out of the woods, into the clearing.

Fucking idiots.

I shoot the first one in the leg and he other in the arm, both of them falling to the ground. Ha I guess the extra target lesson with Amelia really paid off. Suddenly I here a crunch of a twig behind me making me spin around, putting a knife that's strapped to my thigh, up to their neck.

My dad puts a hand to my mouth keeping me quiet and I lower my weapon.

"Get out of here." He whispers, I nod not wanting to be here any longer.
