Daisy's POV
Seeing my stepmom, Lauren, and Loom in front of me, I felt a surge of fear and anger. I realized I was only wearing a t-shirt that reached my knees, clearly not suitable attire for the situation.
Lauren: "Hello, Daisy," she said, baring her teeth.
Daisy: "Mom? How did you find me?"
Lauren: "You think you can run away and I won't find you?"
Daisy: "I didn't run away!" I glanced at Loom, instantly realizing what had happened. "You pushed me!"
Loom: "Sure, you didn't. Next, you'll say I pushed you."
Daisy: "Yes, you did, you--"
My words were cut off by two hard slaps to my right cheek.
Lauren: "SHUT UP! JUST SHUT UP!"
She raised her hand again, but this time, someone pulled me towards him, causing Lauren's hand to swing through the air. It was Ace. He had been standing quietly, but seeing me slapped, he couldn't hold back.
Now in Ace's embrace, I felt an unexpected sense of safety.
Lauren, fuming: "What are you doing? How dare you stop a mother?"
Ace, angrily: "You call yourself a mother? You're disrespecting the word 'mother.'"
Daisy looked at Ace, her eyes filled with tears.
Lauren: "You don't tell me what to do. I'll do whatever I want to my daughter."
Daisy, moving closer: "Daughter? When have you ever treated me like a daughter?"
Ace chose not to intervene, knowing how Lauren treated Daisy.
Lauren: "Shut up and come with me. We're going home."
Daisy: "What if my answer is no?"
Another slap from Lauren.
Ace started towards them, but Daisy's raised hand stopped him. He knew Daisy was ready to fight. Then Loom slapped Daisy twice. Daisy retaliated with a slap of her own, causing Loom to fall.
Before Ace could reach them, Lauren grabbed a lamp from the side table and smashed it against Daisy's head. Daisy held her head in pain.
Ace rushed to Daisy, embracing her protectively.
Ace, furious: "How dare you! How dare you hit her!"
Lauren: "Shut up."
Ace: "You shut up! Guards! Guards!"
The guards entered.
Ace, angrily: "Throw these bitches out!"
Lauren: "Daisy is coming with us."
Ace, looking at Daisy: "Do you want to go with them?"
Daisy, struggling to speak through the pain: "D-do yo-you th-ink I am co-com-coming wi-th y-you, Lauren?"
Lauren: "How dare you take my name!" She moved closer.
Ace: "Away! Stay away from my wife...
