Becky's POV
I was torn from my sleep hearing Nothing equals the splendor, now you're life is no longer empty, surely heaven waits for you. I sat up, shaking my head, "Robert..." I smiled, flinging off my pink blanket, and exiting my canopy. I quickly slapped on a random pair of jeans and a shirt, before walking across the hall to Robert's room. Opening the door, I saw he was gone, "Oh.." I pouted before clambering onto his mattress and shutting off the alarm, "What song even is that..?" I ran back to my room, before opening Mom's tablet and typing in the bit of lyrics I remember. "Oh. Carry On..Way-Wayward Son." I pressed play as I continued getting ready, and headed downstairs, finding everyone gone. "Oh..okay." I looked down, seeing my cat Toby following me around, as Bear, the family westie came running up before being bapped by Toby. I giggled, picking up Toby, "Toby!" The cat nestled in, purring immediately as I sat him on the counter, before pouring some coffee, "Thank you, Robert." I sipped at the liquid, as the house phone rang, I motioned for Toby to follow, as I made my way to the phone. I picked it up, seeing Mom's number, "Hi Mom.", "Oh good, you are awake. Okay. Dad and I won't be home until not next Friday, but the Friday after, the sixteenth, okay? You have the house to yourself. Robert is off with Ethan and Austin.", "Okay..where you guys go?", "We..have a work trip." I heard a few howls of laughter, making me sigh, "Okay..". With that, she hung up, leaving me alone with the pets. I looked at the clock, "I gotta go. Be good, okay?" I sighed, walking out the door, "Robert's lucky..he can go out on his own..wait. So can I." I nodded, making that my plan for the day. "But first, school." I trotted off to the bus stop, before stopping in my tracks, seeing a boy with longish brunette hair, Who's that? He looks..cool! I took in his appearance as he stood by the tree with long oak-brown hair and a serious expression. I tilted my head, "Hey!" I called out as I ran up to him but ended up losing him. "Where'd..he go?" I shook my head, before making my way to the bus. Getting on it, I looked out the window, seeing the same boy leaning against the fence, his hair running down his shoulders with his arms crossed. Our eyes met, and a smile formed on his face, his fingers moving his hair away from his face, revealing more of him. I tilted my head as he weirdly motioned his hand, before returning to my seat. I put my two fingers to my forehead, doing it myself.
? POV
Walking out of DOA, I looked around, my dad calling out to me, "Austin! Be careful, you may be off, but, other kids may not be!" I whirled around, "I know Dad! I'll be careful!" He nodded, before closing the door to the shop. I plugged my headphones into my phone, I nodded in sync with Rob Zombie's Dragula. I fixed my hair, letting it hang in my face, pushing the other side behind my back. I huffed, playfully blowing my bangs out of my face. I snickered, having it fall back into my face, "Who knew having long bangs would make the perfect toy." I stopped by a tree, looking at the other kids sitting and waiting for the bus to come. I laughed Suckers. I stretched, feeling my phone vibrate, "Dad." I looked around, before catching a little brunette girl walking my way. She was wearing a denim jacket and combat boots, I smiled, seeing a bag on her shoulder. A smile tugged at my lips, before shaking my head, No. No crushes. Not anymore. I walked off, leaving a headphone tucked in my shirt. I heard a "Hey!", turning around in the alley, I didn't notice anyone, causing me to shrug. Walking back off into DOA, I looked at Reggie, "Where's my dad?", "Austin, here. I got this for you." My eyes lit up, seeing the skateboard bag, "Thanks, Dad!" I hugged him before attaching my skateboard and transferring my things. I ran back off and leant against the fence of the school where the bus had stopped. My arms crossed my chest, sighing. I finally caught sight of the girl from before, her eyes meetings mine, She's..actually cute. Moving my bangs behind my ear, I smiled softly at her, before I gulped. I signed a two-finger salute, faking my composure. I laughed seeing her head tilt in confusion as the bus pulled away, letting me fall to my knee, "Frick.." I noticed the name of the school, Bradley West. I nodded, typing in the name, "She gets out at 3:15. Perfect." I groaned, "Ugh..it's only 7:30." I unbuckled my skateboard from my bag, slapped it down, and skating towards another street. I removed my headphones, making sure I hear my surroundings. "Austin, dude, it feels so nice being out of school for the week.", "No shit, Robert.", "Hey..you think Becca made the bus?" I looked at a staircase, seeing three boys sitting on it, "Yeah, she's gone. Her little denim jacket was gone." The two others nodded, as one flashed a photo of the little girl from earlier with them, "You know, she really does look up to us." The ginger nodded, "Yeah..and we're always there for her." One rolled his eyes, "She's just a copycat..". I looked at him as I skated by, "Dude..", "Austin, shut up. She is." I stopped, calling out to them as I stood at the staircase, "What I do?". The three boys laughed, the brunette boy shaking his head, "He meant me, I'm sorry. I assume you're Austin too then?" I nodded, "Yeah." I walked up to them, holding my hand out, and the two boys shook my hand. "I'm also Austin. That's Ethan." He pointed to the ginger, "And that's Robert, Becca's older brother. She just left for school." I tilted my head, "Denim jacket, right?" The three nodded, "You know her?" I shook my head, "No..but I did see her on the bus. Brown hair, kind of short?" They all nodded, sighing in relief, "Thanks for letting us know bud." I nodded before skating back off, Her name was Becca! Sick!
