Bonus chapter #2: The Decision to Befriend Kain

Start from the beginning

"The kid is strange in a way that pisses me off. You-" he pointed one of his little bean toes on his paw at Jiwoo, resembling an accusing point. "-you're strange because you're always so damn smiley about everything! No matter what! You see the positives in everything but you're persistent. You know when to be serious and adapt well" he stated. Then he crossed his kitty arms, a scowl on his chubby cat face, thinking of Kain Hua. "But that tomato head is clumsy and distant. That, and the stories we hear about him don't add onto the Kain I see. The Kain we learned about from others is nothing but a bastard. Mean, ruthless, arrogant, ignorant, and more" now Kayden started to rant. Something Jiwoo never saw him do before.

"But the tomato head I've observed is anything BUT that. He tries to act mean when you can see the guilt in his eyes. He's extremely reluctant on a lot of matters and he's too easy to read. They say he's selfish?! Hah!" The cat threw his head back, letting out a loud scoff as he continued to remember Kain. Replaying many of the moments he's interacted with him as a cat. "That kid doesn't have a bad bone in his body" he summed it up. "That tomato head is nothing but a scared child who doesn't know what he's doing!" He threw up his arms, getting over worked about something he really shouldn't be. Jiwoo blinked, nervously smiling as he watched his strict mentor continue to huff and puff about tomato head this and tomato head that.

Until he noticed Kaydens rising chest return to his normal breathing rather than aggressively taking breaths in and out. He wondered what caused him to suddenly calm down so quickly. Wanting to ask but too scared he'll get his mentor fired up again, Jiwoo remained still and silent knowing Kayden slowly got lost in through. Another thing he's never seen the cat do before.

...

What was Kayden thinking about? Well, the day he confronted the redhead in front of the house he was curious about. While he dashed from the Klein brothers scene, he passed by the usually empty lot when he noticed a house being built there. Curiously, he looked around it. Wanting to see the unfinished homes layout. That is until he obviously sensed someone randomly falling behind one of the garbage cans at a neighbor's house. He pretended he hadn't noticed but used the reflection from a very clean window of the house next door, seeing a kid poking out his phone. He squinted his eyes, wondering whether he's stupid or smart for using such a tactic to observe him. He wanted to see what the person would do if he walked straight to them but he felt Jiyoungs presence close in on the Klein brothers nearby. He once again dashed away. Taking a quick look back to see a young boy with red hair behind the trash cans, seemingly relaxing once he left.

Then he remembered the kid. Just before he ever officially met Kain, he ran into him while patrolling Jiwoos neighborhood. Getting used to the streets and such as the tomato head stopped, panting from a run. He sat down, knowing he's never seen the person before. Both on guard and curious, Kayden stayed propped onto a wall, staring at the boy gasping when he watched him check his phone. Hearing him let out quite the surprised shouts until he made eye contact with him. Seeing the kid flinch, he wanted to smirk, forgetting he wasn't in his human form when the boy randomly said, "What a fat cat...I hope it's healthy" then proceeded to run off the other way again. This left Kayden both angered and stunned by his words. It gave him the reality check of actually being a stupid fat orange cat.

Then when he officially decided to confront Kain popped up in his mind. After trying to intimidate Jiwoo into leaving him alone but failed badly, Kain had chased him and his friends out of his home. This rather only piqued Jiwoos interest more than ever. Because of this, Kayden wanted to check if what Jisuk talked about on their way back to Jiwoos house was true. If Kain was nothing but a ruthless human being that deserved to burn in hell.

He remembered how shocked Kain looked when he turned around from looking at his house. It was a total coincidence really. It just happened that Kayden wanted to pass by the neighborhood and saw the house almost finished. When he stopped to take a look, he heard a gasp from behind him. Immediately, he knew exactly who it was. Thus he asked if it was his house. But became increasingly annoyed when the boy simply froze in place, eyes fixated on him. At first, he thought Kain was simply dumbstruck by his immense handsomeness but as a powerful awakener who's seen and done things, he knew in Kains eyes there was nothing like admiration nor infatuation. He could only see fear within the child's eyes. At first, it threw the man off. Why's he so scared of him? Did he do something to him in the past but forgot? No, he'd remember red hair like the kids any day.
