This story is written for the 2023 Open Novella Contest utilizing the following prompt:
(15) Three women. Three secrets. Three tangled lives.
'The Phobos Transit Quilters Guild' is a science fiction tale set in the same fictional universe as two of my previous novellas — by timeline, after 'Paradise Blight' and partially concurrent to 'The Mouse Who Sang for Paradise.' It is completely stand-alone, and reading the other stories is not required.
I have to admit that I know little about quilting, but fortunately, I have an in-house expert. My wife, Susan (@sfhenning), is an accomplished quilter. To brag on her a bit, I will attach pictures of her quilts in chapter headers. Special thanks to her for technical support and beta reading.
