BUT THE CHARACTERS ARE NOT MINE except for Kain and his brother...
The next day, Inhyuk came to my apartment, saying it's something urgent. So I allowed him in. Of course, the man was surprised to see Lily and Gin greet him happily and the three big guard dogs resting on the terrace, enjoying a little cool breeze as it's summer now. "Ahem" Inhyuk cleared his throat, a slight blush on his cheeks as Lily yawned, rolling herself up in his lap. Obviously he looked overjoyed by this since Gin made himself comfortable beside his thigh.
A true cat lover. "What is it that you wanted to speak to me about?" I asked, sipping black tea the maid gave me a while ago. She left when Inhyuk came. "Well, I already discussed this with your father but he said the final decision is yours to make," Inhyuk started, letting Gin's little silver head. I nodded, indicating for him to continue.
"There has been a certain program in the works for a while now. It's recently been announced that its start up" Inhyuk watched me closely, seeing how my expression changed or how my body reacted to his words. When I showed nothing of the sort and rather calmly drank tea, he continued. "The awakened academy" gasping at the same time of drinking, I choked on my tea, coughing like crazy as Inhyuk jumped up and patted my back, sitting beside me after he gently placed Lily down even if I was dying in front of him.
"Are you okay!?" He said, looking at my teary eyes.
The awakened academy. The Arc when Jiwoo shows his talents as an awakened one and earns the right to unaffiliated students. It's also an important event in the story line. There's also so many spars I wish to witness first hand there. But I used my one-time selfish card already so it's only right I refuse. Plus, I'm not even awakened. Well, not officially awakened technically.
"What about the awakened academy?" I wiped my mouth, scooting a bit over since Inhyuk sat a little close. "Well, this academy is bringing teenage awakeners in all of Korea for two to three months. It's mostly in order to teach them skills and build bonds amongst their age group. Well, not all adolescent awakened ones..." Inhyuk explained, watching as I was waiting for him to get to the point. I already know this. But I need him to tell me WHY he brought it up in the first place.
"Only well-known groups will have 2-3 members participate in this event. But since you're not an awakened one..." he trailed off, scratching the back of his head as I sighed, knowing exactly what he's going to say. "I can't participate" I finished for him. "Yes, but your father is a well-known man and with his influence, you can still watch. If you choose to go, you'll be a manager under Shinhwa. A manager in-training so-to-speak" I blinked. There's such a position?
"What does that mean? A manager in training?" I asked. "Ah, it's for non-awakeners who can manage things for us, awakened ones. Such as dealing with the government, kind of like the bridge between regular people and the awakened world" that's new. Someone who isn't awakened but manages the things awakeners cannot do since they're all about power but as a regular human, I can deal with them without making them nervous or uncomfortable. Still, that's a huge no.
"I'll have to-" "your father said if you go, he'll double your allowance. Saying he'll pay you for your work time since you'll be the evaluator who's filling in for him. Since he can't make it" fuck. So it's like a job he's assigned to Kain on his behalf. If that's the case, it changes the whole game. If I keep rejecting these proposals then Kains father will become suspicious of me since Kain is known to be interested in awakened ones. The awakened academy is something Kain would 100% do.
"...father said that?" I asked to confirm as Inhyuk nodded. I sighed. "Fine. I'll go. No need to contact father for me since I'll only ever be involved with Shinhwa during the awakened academy. Outside of that, I expect no interference with my life" I coldly gave Inhyuk a glare, walking to the door and making him leave. "Kain" but he stopped before stepping out the door, reaching out and patting my head. Ruffling Kains hair. "I'm glad you're becoming mature" with that, he left. Meanwhile, I stood there, frozen at what he just said.
Mature? MATURE!? YOU THINK THIS IS MATURE OF ME WHEN I JUST-
These characters frustrate me more than my Hyung ever did.

A/N: I'm very sorry for my chapters being shorter than usual and my writing is also sort of going down hill. I've noticed I'm repeating words and in light of that, I have to recollect myself at this moment and will return with longer and hopefully better chapters. It's just school (My brain is becoming mush- help-😭) n it's a little rushed I could tell that much...BUT STILL I WONT DISCONTINUE THIS STORY NOR WILL I GIVE UP!!! so don't worry
ANYWAYS Kayden has finally made his gRAND appearance. As well as Inhyuk who we haven't seen since chapter 9 or 10? Idk I don't remember LMAO. Now~ The awakened academy arc is coming 👀 this'll be very very VERY interesting 👀👀👀👀
P.S: the whole "manager in-training" DOES NOT EXIST IN THE ELECEED WEBTOON/MANWHA. I solely made it up for the sake of the story to continue 🤌
