The phoenix is known as a powerful supernatural creature capable of burning worlds to ashes if the are left unleashed. In many cultures, including those on Lapisa, they are highly respected beings only known to arise at times when the world needs them most. Though some stories have been lost in translation, the last phoenix hasn't been seen in over five hundred years, leaving some to believe they are nothing more than myths. Usually phoenixes are born as males, a very few females, at least eighteen or twenty years old with all of their powers mastered. They remain the age they were reborn as throughout their lives. They are usually quick to find a keeper, one with a strong heart regardless for good or evil. Without a keeper for long the phoenix will be unable to control the fire burning inside and they will return to ashes as they were before. Once accepted by a keeper, usually done through a symbolic handshake, the phoenix now feels in control of themselves. Their fire and the fire they create cannot harm their keeper. The phoenix will continue to stand by their keeper until another keeper takes them (killing their keeper or forcing submission through torture and breaking the past bond; which the current keeper will feel). When no longer needed, it has been tradition for the keeper to kill the phoenix and return them to ashes once more to prevent them from breaking free of the keeper and killing all life as we know it.
