Chapter Twenty Two: Water

Start from the beginning

She thought quietly for a moment, putting her hand on her chin.

"So you don't remember....anything?"

The way she said 'anything' made me a bit anxious and wonder if I forgot anything important.

"Uh, well..." I said a slightly chuckled. "Was I suppose to remember something?"

her expression turned into disappointment which made me realise that I had said a VERY wrong thing.

She realised that I sure her upset, then pretended to be happy again.

"No, nothing important." She said, smiling.

I truly felt bad for hurting her. I wish I knew what exactly happened, if there was something to trigger it...

"It's 4:00am..." She said, looking at her phone.

"4:00 am?" I said. "Did you even sleep at all?"

"Nope, I had to take care of you idiot." She laughed, then yawned.

"C'mon, I'll get off the sofa.." I said before getting up.

"No no no no no..." She repeatedly said. "You need to rest."

"What about you?" I asked.

"Roukan..." She sighed. "You need to learn how to take care of yourself before others."

"Pfft. Don't worry about me, i'll be fine." I said.

She went quiet, holding her arm with her head down.

"I....can't sleep..." She said. "I....was so scared back there...I thought I would've been..." She nearly fell on her knees and broke into tears however got up and caught her in my arms just in time.

"Rylie..." I said, while she cried on my shoulder while I hugged her, stroking her hair.

At that point I remembered. I remembered getting beat up by Nick, I remembered him breaking the crap out of my arm, and I remembered that moment, where I became strong and weak and feeling comfortable and strange at the same time.

I slowly looked down at her. I knew I had to tell her sooner or later, so I took a big sigh, and told her the truth.

"Rylie..." I said and she lifted her head up. I wiped the tears away from her eyes. "I've had a lot of girls walk past by me and they all didn't really mean anything to me. It was always be a hello and a good bye and nothing more. When I first met you however, you were this beautiful, kind looking person that was full of life with a world full of happiness. My legs were literally shaking like crazy, and my jaw instantly dropped. Even though you did kinda beat me up afterwards..." I added. She chuckled a little bit.

"But that shows me you're tough, and...I like a girl who can kick a guys butt." I said and she laughed.

"So, to cut it short..." I stuttered, blushing like mad.

"I.....lo....ugh..." I said. "I thought this would be easier." I mumbled under my breath.

Rylie laughed.

"It's okay, Roukan." she said, before dragging me down a little to reach my face and gave me a quick kiss.

"I love you too."

BAM! Knees shaking like crazy again. It felt like someone shoved fireworks in me and they were all exploding on one one.

"R-really?" I chuckled, blushing again.

"You're a hopeless romantic, Roukan." She said, hugging me again. "I like a guy who's like that."

Her hugging made me calm for a little bit and we both lied down on the sofa, spooning.

I looked outside the window and I knew at around 4:00am the stars were at their most beautiful.

"Look outside." I said, but there was no reply.

"Rylie?"

She was already fast asleep, which made me glad. Poor thing didn't sleep at all.

"Oh well, don't worry Rylie. I bet you the stars will be more beautiful when you see them." I said, before kissing her forehead and falling asleep.

End of flashback

"Hold it!" Aatu said, and we all stopped.

We looked into to distance and the forest stopped. It changed into a gigantic field of snow that seemed to go for miles on end.

"What the hell?" I said.

"Hmm, I wonder what this place is..." Apollo said, scanning through the map we took. "It's not on here."

"It's too dangerous to go into the open like that." Trevor said.

"Can't we go around using the forest?" Serena suggested.

"It's no use." I replied. "The forest would only make a u-turn and take us back to the motel."

I looked around. What was this heap of land? There was no tree and life in sight.

"Let's just camp here for tonight. We'll figure out something tomorrow."
