POV: Mumbo/Scar
Words: 1009
Mumbo unconsciously shuffled toward Scar, he hadn't seen the builder this angry in a little while.
"We were just coming in to look at your stock!" Scar said innocently, coming in with the save. "I needed wood and Mumbo needed Honeycombs." He glanced back at Mumbo.
"Yea I needed some wax for my copper for my vault. To store my hundreds of diamonds." Mumbo bragged, hoping he was playing it off well. Grian tilted his head as though listening to something.
"Then why did my Conduit screech louder than a Banshee?" He growled, taking another angry step toward them.
"Uh... we don't know..." Scar replied, a little bit of nervousness creeping through his voice. Grian growled again. Mumbo and Scar shared a look.
"Grian what's going on? You don't look very good, and I'm sure leaf wings aren't normal." Mumbo asked, trying to change the subject. He turned his glare on Mumbo.
"Don't!" He hissed, "try to avoid my question. I'm completely fine. You are trying to get away from me." His wings flared open and Mumbo realized what he was doing as the winged hermit flew at them. Mumbo pushed Scar with him and they managed to avoid Grian's attack, who slammed to the back wall of the rock. Grian quickly recovered and turned for another lunge. He didn't seem to notice as the rock's walls shook.
"C'mon Scar." Mumbo said frantically. Grabbing the elf's hand and dragging him out the Entity as it shook more. He saw a couple rocks fall into the doorway and they sprinted out the rock. Mumbo turned back to see Grian lunging again, but before he could ram into them, boulders rolled off the top of the Entity's shell and landed in the doorway, blocking the exit.
"Grian!" Scar yelped. Immediately rushing over.
"Wait Scar! First let's go find Xisuma, maybe he can help. If we free Grian he might try attacking us again, he isn't acting normal." Mumbo said quickly, he knew Grian was right on the other side of the boulders and who knew how long until he got out. Scar hesitated then nodded.
"Let's go, quickly." He said, equipping his elytra.
They took off, flying quickly to Xisuma's skeleton base. They glided through the portal eyes and landed inside on the bone floor.
"Xisumaaaaaa!" Scar yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth. When no one answered them Mumbo opened his chat log and secretly messaged Xisuma to come to his base quickly. He didn't want Grian seeing their messages. He quickly got a responding message that read: 'On my way.'
"He's coming, we just have to wait." Mumbo tells Scar before he could yell again. Scar sucked his breath back in and sighed. He rubbed the side of his head, a lingering headache in the back of his brain.
"Stupid rock." Scar muttered, kicking a pebble, his elf powers causing an angry flower to pop out of the ground at his feet.
"Hm?" Mumbo asked, looking up from his communicator.
"Oh nothing." Scar flashed a reassuring grin before jumping at the sound of fireworks. "Look, Xisuma's here, and someone's with him." He pointed up to the sky where Xisuma was, he dived down and landed in front of them, quickly followed by Doc. Scar flashed a hidden, hesitant look at Doc unsure how many hermits they wanted to tell their news. Mumbo didn't seem to mind or care though because he quickly spilled everything.
"And then he got blocked inside it." Mumbo finished. Xisuma tapped his foot while thinking.
"I thought I had sensed something weird on the server." He said. "I feel we could try to talk to him again once he's calmed down, or we can simply try to destroy the conduint."
"What if.." Scar piped in. "What if we try killing him that might.. Might reset him or something?"
"Hmm we can try. But I have a feeling it won't work, that'd be too easy." Xisuma responded. "But it's worth a shot and if he's still trapped we'll have him cornered."
"Then why are we still sitting here talking?" Doc grunted, drumming his fingers impatiently.
"Right, yes let's go, quickly." They all equipped their elytra and took off. Flying the short distance back to the shopping district. Their rockets going off in quick succession. When they landed, Scar immediately noticed something worrying.
"Okay I'm ninety-nine percent sure all these weren't here before." Half the shopping district was covered in thick vines. They curled around buildings and formed bridges over the moat leading to the Entity, which now had it's exit unblocked.
"I wonder what could have caused this." Doc said, his voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Guys what's going on?" Scar turned to see Impulse calling to them from his shop. They all rushed over to him.
"Have you seen Grian recently?" Xisuma asked him as they followed Impulse into his shop.
"Yea, I was bringing in some new stock and saw him leaving the Entity just a few moments ago. Speaking of which, Grian got this under control right? This is all just LORE?" Impulse asked lightheartedly, a small hint of worry in his expression though.
"Yea about thaaaat." Scar grinned awkwardly. "I would recommend not going to it for the time being." He said. Mumbo gave Scar a look and started giving the quick rundown. Scar hung back, deciding to check for Grian to see if he was in sight anywhere. But he didn't even have to take another step because there he was, right there, in the doorway. His expression was placid, and his fingers were twitching, but as Scar saw him the anger returned to his eyes. Grian stepped back out of the doorway and waved his hand simply before taking off out of sight. Before Scar could even reach the entrance the ground shook and he fell back. And before he could get back on his feet, the door and every visible window or opening was blocked by thick vines.
Now they were the ones trapped.
