"Who do you think the kidnapper is?"
"Caitlyn." He answered almost immediately which made me question but I quickly regained myself.
"Why Caitlyn?"
"She's been acting weird ever since you started to ask questions." That was a very simple answer, but it helped a lot.
"Thank you, you can leave now."
"I'm going to go sit by myself, can you tell everyone to not look for me?" I felt like I could trust him not to do anything and agreed. He got up and quickly left, leaving me alone. Talon was arrested for abuse, he's so strong that he could overpower anyone, and he was the only one here who wasn't reported for being missing. I have to choose one person that's the murderer and I think I've chosen who it is.
I sighed before pushing myself off of the cold ground and walking towards where the group was. My ankle no longer hurt, I guess walking stopped the pain. I walked for a bit until I made it back to the crate where the bomb is.
I had to tell the group who I choose and I was so nervous I was shaking. I was about to turn the corner when I heard a male scream, my instincts took in and before I even knew what I was doing, I found myself running in the direction of the scream. I could hear a small whimper in pain and slowly stepped towards it; I had my hand on the gun in the position that, if necessary, I could shoot.
I took a step behind the crate pointing the gun upwards looking around to find Talon lying on the ground with a bullet wound in the stomach. I stood there in utter shock. I was going to kill an innocent but the kidnapper got to him first.
"Talon," I whispered, watching him slowly fade into his death. I felt so bad but the wound was too deep, I could never save him.
"I'm so sorry Talon; I wish I could save you, But I have no way to." I was starting to tear up but kept them in.
"The game must continue." He mumbled. His voice was so weak unlike before; he gently shut his eyes and let out his final breath, he was gone. I could hear everyone running before reaching where I stood, towering over his dead body. For their point of view it must look like I shot him, I was the only one with a gun, or so I thought.
"Alexandra! What did you do?" They all screamed at once.
"We split up for one second and she kills an innocent."
"She must be the killer." All their voices sounded the same and before I knew it the gun was ripped out of my hand. Caitlyn was holding the gun right at my heart, ready to kill me.
"Let's not kill her yet, we should find where the key goes to first." Annie suggested after a minute the gun was taken off my chest and everyone started to suggest ideas. I was so lost in my thoughts that I couldn't understand what they were saying, but I did hear one thing.
"But one of us has to stay with her." Tyler snared in my direction.
"Caitlyn since you have the gun you stay with her, just take her back to the bomb." I think Ash said. I felt a strong grip on my upper arm then someone started to harshly drag me towards the crate.
I stumbled at first but quickly regained myself and walked normally. When we got to the bomb Caitlyn threw me to the ground and leaned against the crate, luckily I didn't hurt my ankle this time. I slowly crawled over to the bomb and looked at the timer.
"45 minutes." I said out loud.
"Stay still." She scowled at me before returning to what she was previously doing. We lost an hour meaning Talon was innocent. If he wasn't the killer then who is? I thought back to before I got knocked out. The kidnapper used a needle for the drug, not a cloth. Annie and Tyler had no access to any of this, meaning they couldn't have done it.
"The footsteps," I whispered, yet Caitlyn heard me. She started to stare at me like I was crazy.
"What are you talking about?"
"Nothing," I bluntly lied, not wanting her to know what I was trying to do. I could tell that she didn't believe me but I continued on with the evidence.
The footsteps defiantly weren't sneakers like Ash's shoes, but I couldn't think of which brand they were. The needle couldn't have been gotten by just anyone; they were more of a doctor's use than a drugstore needle. I thought to when I opened my eyes just before the drug took over and held that picture in my mind, scanning it closely. Right at the corner of my eye was when I saw it. Hair; brown wavy hair.
It finally clicked together from all the shreds of clues.
"The killer is Caitlyn." My eyes widened realizing that the killer of Talon and the kidnapped was standing right beside me. Cailyn was a nurse, which gave her access to both the drugs and the doctor's needle. The clicks of shoes were the sound of heels hitting the sidewalk, and the brown wavy hair belonged to her.
Something grabbed me from behind, putting one arm around my neck. I knew almost instantly who it was; Caitlyn.
"Congratulations you figured it out, now for your prize." She whispered in my ear sending shivers down my spine.
The cold barrel of the pistol being pushed against my skull chilled me along with the terrifying reality that just hit me. This was the end, not only of my life, but the poor people that put their lives in my hands. I wanted to scream, to tell them I was sorry, but I couldn't. I was frozen, stunned in fear, simply awaiting my death.
I could hear the sound of my soon to be killer pushing their finger on the trigger, signalling that it was my time to die. When I die the last hour will be destroyed; it wasn't long before I heard the loud bang of the gun firing. Goodbye world, I'm sorry for failing.
I could hear the sound of the bullet going through skin and fell to the ground, waiting for the pain to consume me. But the problem with that was it never came. I opened my eyes to find that I wasn't in pain and that instead turned to find Caitlyn lying on the ground with a bullet wound in her side and the gun on the floor next to her.
Hey guys. The next part will be the last but I hope you enjoyed reading it.
