"How long have you.. uh known about this?" I ask Jayden, already partially knowing his answer.

"Amb.. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. We don't necessarily talk about every fight I'm in, this one's no different." He responds.

"You're gonna get hurt?"

"Wow. Have some faith in me. And no," he moves closer towards me, "I promise." He says, kissing me.

"I wanna go." I state.

"Where, Angel?" He asks, playing with my hair.

"To this fight." I say, in an obvious tone.

"No." He interrupts, quickly.

"Let me remind you, I kind of don't need your permission." I say, shrugging.

"I know you don't. Please Amber. I would feel so much better if I wasn't distracted."

"So I'm a distraction?" I ask.

"No. You're not. I'm sorry." He starts. "It's just hard to think about anything else when you're around. You're all I think about, baby."

"Fine. But I'm not talking to you for the rest of the night." I say, grabbing my phone and walking out of the bedroom.

"I hate your brother." I lie, sitting next to Alice on the couch.

"I feel ya." She nods, yawning.

"Now what am I supposed to do?" I ask, dramatically.

"Sleep. That solves everything." Xavier chimes in.

"I have a better idea. I'm gonna go to the beach. Who's in?" I quickly get up.

"I'm always in for the beach." Lizzy says, smiling.

"I'll go as well, I guess." Xavier adds.

"Okay then, let me change real quick." I sigh, walking upstairs.

The beach sounds like the perfect place to get my mind off of Jayden. The weird thing is that I can't even be mad at him, I'm just annoyed. I understand his twisted profession of beating people up, but that doesn't even slightly help with the anxiety I feel every time he steps into the ring. Obviously I can't tell him to give up what he's been doing since forever, I just wish I wasn't kept in the dark like some fragile little doll of his.

I walk into our room, completely ignoring Jayden on the bed before stepping into the closet and grabbing a bathing suit.

I end up going for a pretty pastel floral bikini
