Start from the beginning

"Okay, good, did you informed the police right away?"

"Yes, but they told me I had to wait at least 48 hours to declare a person missing."

"Yes, that's the protocols, you talked with someone about it? any clue of where they can be?"

"I called Sarah's grandmother, but she just declined my calls, she lives kind uncommunicate of everyone, like a cabin in the woods." he rubbed the back of his neck, he knew her daughter was there.

"Maybe y/n is right." Wanda say looking at me, "Does she did that before?" her eyes land on the man

"Yes, but unfortunately I don't know how to get there, she never told me where it was."

"Oh my god," My eyes rolled back, how this man could be that ignorant.

"y/n," Natasha call my attention "go get some coffee for the four of us." I crossed my arms.

"But-"

"Nothing, is an order, go get coffee." her authority slap me, but I decide is better not protest so I just got out of the office.

The fresh air hits me once I step out of the building, calming all my senses.

"Hey babes, one of your redheads came here just a few minutes ago." Kate greets me as I enter the shop.

"Hi K, yeah I know, something happened with Sarah." I lean on the counter, rubbing my eyes in frustration.

"Oh, well, good luck with that, yours, Wanda and Natasha's order, right?" I nod.

"And one black coffee." she furrows her eyebrows "for the father."

Kate starts to prepare the drinks as I keep thinking in ways to help the little girl. I tap my pocket just to found I forget my wallet.

"Don't worry, you can pay me later." she winks at me, thanking her as I grab the four cups and go again to the building.

Natasha opens the door for me, going instantly to the elevator to go to the office. When I get to the floor I hear Ms. Brown talking on the phone, slowly entering and placing the coffees on the desk.

"Where are you? are you indane!" he says frustrated. I look at Natasha, furrowing my eyebrows questioning.

"the mother answer," she whisper to me.

"Leave Sarah out of all that, she has nothing to do with you there, Clai" he starts to walk in circles, "Don't do that." his hand goes to his forehead, he's tense.

My heart beats fast, the feeling of something happen to Sarah comes again and I have to sit because otherwise I would fall.

"Let me go for her, please," his voice broke.

This is the last thing we needed to make sure we'll win the trial. I know it sounds bad, and I'm not happy this happened, but there's no way we loose now.

"Claire!" he throw his phone to the floor "she end the call." and with that, tears began to fall from his eyes, Wanda got up to rub his back and I handle him a glass of water. "thanks."

"Everything is gonna be okay, we know she's somewhere safe, they'll come back again." Wanda told him.

"Go to the police to inform this, Ms. Brown, if you need something you have my number." Natasha wrote it in a post it and handle it to him.

"Thank you all, I'm gonna do that." he smiled sadly, greeting us with a look.

"y/n, scold him to the exit." I nodded and guide him to the elevator.

The sadness on his face is contagious, the silence becomes unbearable.

"This is good for you in some way, we can win the trial, you can have the custody." I reassure him, curving my lips in a hopeful smile.

"Thanks, I would never forgive myself for all she went through till now." his shaky voice send a shiver to my entire body, remembering my own father.

"You did your best, Ms. Brown." no you didn't. "I hope she comes home soon."

The elevator's doors open, we walked to the front to get out, hoping the best for the little girl. I return to the office, fuzzy memories of my childhood invade my mind as I go up to the 27th floor.

I found both women talking, still a little zone out I sit on the sofa to still process all the information we got today.

"What are you thinking, y/n?" Wanda's sweet voice brings me back to reality.

"We'll win the case," I look up at both of them "with this we'll won the trial."

"We hope so, but if the mother change the version, that she just took Sarah to visit her grandma?"

"If that was the case, Ms. Brown wouldn't went to the police station to declare her wife and daughter missing." I say back.

"She has a point, Nat." Wanda is stand in front of me, handing me my coffee.

"Yes, but we need to be prepare for anything." Natasha goes to sit behind her desk.

"We are, Miss Romanoff. Sarah has an appointment with me on 6th of january, she's gonna tell me for sure what happened." She sighs again, she's not convince.

"I don't know, we need to study more."

"y/n, do you want to inform your dad about this or I do?" My eyes land on Wanda, so sweet, caring for me.

"I'll talk to him."

She nod and I go to my office, calling my dad to let him know all of it. Once I finish the call, I notice is already lunch time. I knock twice the door, waiting for Natasha to let me in.

"Do you want to grab something to eat?"

"That sounds good, I'm in," Wanda gets up from her chair "and I miss you all this days I was out of town," She pulls me into a hug and I see how Natasha's jaw tenses, I can fell her jealousy.

"Me too." I say as I hug her back.

"Are you coming, Nat?"

"Yeah, let's go."
