"Where did you discover her?" I asked innocently, all inner motives concealed.

"I found her on social media. Many people kept recommending her to me, even Ellis told me that Ms. Palmer helped her get over her divorce. So I gave her a try," she shrugged nonchalantly.

"Social media you say?"

"Yes. So young and fresh. She has such a huge following as a therapist, a beauty influencer too, I'm assuming she is." Claire praised, clearly aware of Illithyia's illecebrous beauty.

"I reckon. I'll be picking Lia after her session today, so don't worry about that-"

"Ah, you're such an amazing father. It would be very convenient because I'll be having lunch with the other housewives in the upper east side."

"Have fun." I hoped the disinterest wasn't so noticeable in my voice.

After having breakfast, I made my way to work. I entered the company after getting scanned, and I was surprised to see my receptionist, Farah, already behind her desk. It was way too early for a normal worker to be at work by half five. The standard arrival time was seven o'clock.

"Farah, good morning." I walked up to her, and her head immediately jerked up. She was sleeping?

"Oh, um, g-good morning Sir." She cleared her throat, looking down in shame and tucking a strand behind her ear.

"Why are you at work so early? You know my bank doesn't open until seven thirty," I checked my Rolex watch.

Farah was the most friendly and hard working employee; she was very punctual and efficient, never complained about work, treated all customers and work mates with so much respect. She was someone I cherished in the company. Much like a little sister.

"Oh. Well I just thought I'd cover some of my workload early," I could sense the lie as I studied the jaded expression manned over her features.

"There's no need to lie about anything, I'm pretty sure I don't bite," she laughed slightly, playing with her fingers slowly.

"Well, about five months ago, I moved in with my boyfriend because we've been together for like a year. I found him cheating on me last night when I got home, and I decided to move out. I wanted to rent out a place with my savings, but I found out that he had been using it up, so I had no money, no place to stay, I have no relatives around here either. So my best option was to sleep here for the night." She confessed, and my heart ached upon hearing the story.

I knew what suffering was like, and I never wanted anyone to experience the same thing.

"Where did you sleep, exactly?" I raised my brows.

"Behind my desk, on the floor where it's hidden. I didn't want the guard to kick me out." She shrugged sadly.

"Listen Farah, if you ever have a problem, don't hesitate to tell me about it, alright? I want my employees to lead a healthy and happy lifestyle, I'm not happy about this." I reached into my bag, taking a silver amd black card from the many that I had.

"A few nights on the floor won't hurt Sir-"

"I'm having none of that, Farah. Here's a VIP card to my hotel. I want you to stay there until you feel stable. Don't hesitate to get good service, your boyfriend can go and fuck himself." I handed her the card, and she stared up at me with glossy eyes.

"You're such a good man, Mr. Vasudevan. I really don't deserve this-"

"You do. Now take it and go. I'm giving you a day off to sleep and settle in. Stay there as long as you need, don't feel guilty. You've done so much for this place." I spoke, remembering how most of the good reviews mentioned how the 'bubbly redhead at the front' treated them so well.
