It was late December, Lemon and Hallie hadn't talked in over a month. In fact, they hadn't spoken at all.
Lemon was just getting home from practice when she receives a mysterious phone call from Hallie.
"Lemmie?"
"Hi"
"Lemmie I need you"
"Hal what's wrong"
"I dunno, I dunno Lemon"
"Well calm down, breathe baby, talk to me"
"You can't call me baby"
"What?"
"Just don't Lemon"
"Um, okay"
Lemon is shaking as she tries to slow her now, even more racing thoughts.
"You just can't anymore"
"Okay"
"Ugh Lemon, I gotta go"
She hangs up the phone and Lemon is left in desperate confusion.
What did she mean I can't call her baby? She's my girlfriend?
Lemon grabs the bottle of bourbon and pours a glass. Neat, and takes it down as she starts to cry quietly to herself.
Maybe she's not my girlfriend anymore. She thought.
Lemon allowed tears to fall from her cheeks as She stared down into her empty glass.
Many thoughts raced her mind as she tried to calm herself down. She began to analyze if Hallie even cared anymore. Was it just a phase? She asked herself. Was all of it not true? Did Hallie ever really love her?
She collected her phone, keys, and wallet and took a walk to the local bar across the street. She couldn't be alone in her thoughts any longer.
