Delilah rolled her eyes.

"That's ridiculous."

Draco nodded.

"At least we know why she got the job. Dumbledore would never hire her."

"But he did hire Lockhart, so I wouldn't be that surprised."

Draco grinned.

"That's true. I can't wait to see Snape and McGonagall inspected. Umbridge won't know what hit her."

Delilah laughed.

"Come on, we should hurry to Defense Against the Dark Arts, I don't want the toad to give us detention."

Of course it was boring as always. Delilah had already suffered through the book once so she wouldn't have to in class. Instead she worked on homework for other classes.

Umbridge noticed. She quietly came over, detention written all over her face.

"What are you doing?" she asked Delilah.

"Homework."

"For this class?"

"No, Transfiguration. I swear she is trying to drown us in homework."

Draco, who was sitting next to Delilah, was trying hard not to snicker.

"Then please read the chapter. You can continue the homework afterwards."

"I've already read it."

"Then read the next one."

"I've read the whole book."

"Then you should know what you should be able to tell me what Slinkhard says about counter jinxes in chapter fifteen."

Delilah nodded.

"I do."

"Then... what is it?"

Delilah turned to Umbridge, aghast.

"Have you not read the book?"

"I have, but I am making sure you have."

Delilah could tell the toads patience was running out, so she decided to play nice. For now.

"He disagrees with how counter jinxes are named. He thinks that it's just a name for jinxes that people want to be more acceptable."

Umbridge stared at Delilah, looking impressed despite herself. Delilah stared back, refusing to back down. It had worked with a lunatic, why not Umbridge? She basically was one herself.

Finally Umbridge smiled, looking even more like a toad.

"You may continue working on your homework, but please stay after class."

Then the toad headed back to her comfy, hideous pink chair.

Delilah frowned. She obviously wouldn't be giving her detention, right? She'd do that in front of the whole class with no problem, so why was she asking her to stay after class? Unless...

The bell rang, interrupting her thoughts.

"Want me to wait?" Draco offered, but Delilah shook her head.

"Nah, I'll be fine. See you in a bit."

Draco hesitated, but left.

She finished putting her homework in her bag as Umbridge walked over.

Delilah was tempted to bow and call her "your majesty," but she didn't think that would go over well. Plus she didn't want to be the one to talk first. She could be late to Potions. Snape wouldn't care.
