Mexico

Andrew crossed the border into Mexico the next day around 6 am. He goes to a bank and gets his money changed into pesos. He drives around asking if anybody's seen the guys in the picture he has and they all say no. Lexi calls him at about 10:30
A- hey
Lr- where are you now?
A- Mexico
Lr- Ok. I know you don't trust phone calls, so I'll make this quick. Brent is in the hospital right now with my mom and my dads here at the house with me
A- what? What happened?
Lr- my mom had a stroke, but she is supposed to make a full recovery
A- that's good, that's she's gonna make a full recovery I mean
Lr- I know. Anyways, I love you, and call me when your on your way back.
A- I will I love you too
Lr- bye
A- bye
Lexi hangs up
Andrew drives around for almost / weeks straight until he gets to Yucatán and he decides to head back. He calls Lexi at around 5 pm and she answers
A- hey
Lr- hey babe
A- what's going on?
Lr- I went to a doctors appointment
A- I thought we were gonna go together
Lr- we were, but I couldn't keep rescheduling
A- when did you go?
Lr- yesterday. I didn't find out the baby's gender. I don't want to do that without you. But the OB said next appointment I can find out
A- I'll be back in time. I'm heading back right now, but it will take a while, anyways, what else?
Lr- school is starting back up in a couple of days
A- yeah, the pandemic should be dying down
Lr- it is. I think I'm gonna stick with online school for a while though, it's the safer option
A- yeah.
Lr- when do you think you'll be back?
A- in around two weeks
Lr- what?
A- yeah I'm in Yucatán right now
Lr- you drove all the way out there?
A- yep, and my dad was nowhere to be found
Lr- I'm sorry
A- it's good, I mean he's left before
Lr- I'm still sorry
A- anyways, is there anything else going on?
Lr- my moms out of the hospital and we're all starting to do better
A- that's really good. I'm sorry I don't have better news to give you
Lr- it's ok, as long as your still alive
A- I am. And I will try to get back to you as fast as I can
Lr- as much as I would like you to get here like now, I need you in one piece, so drive safely and legally. I don't want you to get arrested in another country
A- yeah that wouldn't be good
Lr- no it wouldn't. I love you
A- I love you too. I'll see you in two weeks
Lr- ok babe, bye
A- bye
Lexi hangs up.
Andrew gets stopped in Mexico City on his way back by an officer
A- hola oficial
The officer doesn't speak
A- what can I do for you?
The officer pulls out his gun and aims it at Andrew head
A- woah woah woah, slow down. What's going on?
The officer lowers his gun
Of- we need to search your car but it's not safe for you to get out here
A- ok. Can you search it with me in the car?
The officer shakes his head yes and he unlocks the doors. They search the car and leave. Andrew locks the doors again and drives away. He drives as fast as he can and gets back to California in less than 2 days. He runs up to Lexi's door and starts banging on it. She comes downstairs and opens to door and he falls on her and hugs her
Lr- what's wrong?
A- I just needed your hug
Lr- oh baby, I needed you too
They hug for a couple of minutes and Andrew stands back up
Lr- what happened?
A- when I got to Mexico City, I got pulled over and the cop held a gun to my head before asking anything of me and then they searched my car for drugs or something and just dipped
Lr- oh my good baby
A- I still can't believe that he was just ready to shoot me instead of asking me to do something
Lr- that's literally crazy
A- I'm just glad I made it back
Lr- I'm glad too
Lexi kisses Andrew
Brent walks downstairs and sees Andrew and runs to him and hugs him tightly
Br- where you been man?
A- Mexico
Brent backs out of the hug
Br- wait what?! You've been in Mexico
A- yup, went digging for my dad. Never found him
Br- oh I'm sorry
A- it's fine
Br- come in bro
A- I'll be back, I've gotta go see Danny
Br- you haven't heard?
A- no
Andrew looks at Lexi
Lr- oh yeah, Danny moved
A- what? Where?!
Lr- with Sebastian and Lee, they all moved in during quarantine. That's what I forgot to tell you
A- do you know where they live now?
Lr- at lee's I'm pretty sure
A- ok
Andrew bends down and kisses Lexi's stomach
A- I'll see you guys later, love you
Andrew dashes off towards his car
Lr- Love you too
Andrew drives off to Lee's. He runs up to the door and knocks. They see him at the door from the doorbell camera and open the door. Andrew dabs them all up into a hug
Lee- where you been man?
A- Mexico
D- what?
Seb- you've been slumming it out in Mexico while we were out here dealing with a whole pandemic
A- I wasn't there for a vacation
D- yeah cause you would've told us or Lexi
A- I did tell Lexi I was going to Mexico
Seb- seriously? You told her and not us?
A- she's my fiancée and the she's carrying my child, you expect me to keep secrets from her?
Seb- wait back it up
Lee- yeah, your engaged? To Lexi?
A- yep. Proposed the day before I left. And I was trying to find my dad while I was in Mexico. I was going neighborhood to neighborhood, door to door, asking if anybody had seen him
D- so?
A- nobody saw him
Andrew's dad comes out of the house
Ad- it's probably because I'm here
A- what the hell? He's been here the whole time and you never told me?
D- he like just got here not even an hour before you did. And it's not like we knew you were looking for your dad or that you were even coming here
A- I've gotta go
Ad- Andrew wait!
A- no, as you may have heard, I have a fiancée , who I need to get back to
Andrew leaves and goes back to Lexi's. Her mom lets him in and he goes into the kitchen. He makes a bowl of cereal and starts eating it. Lexi comes down while Andrew's halfway into his cereal
Lr- hey babe, I didn't hear you come in
A- your mom let me in
Lr- oh, how was Lee and them?
A- their good. They were surprised to see me
Lr- yeah I mean I was. But I feel like that's not all. Did something happen on your way over there or something?
A- I'm glad you can read me
Lr- stop stalling the question
A- my dad was there
Lr- wait what?! Hold up, your dad was at Lee's house?
A- yep, apparently he got there not too long before I did
Lr- do you know how or why?
A- nope, I dipped as soon as I saw him. I didn't wanna say something I'd regret
Lr- that's smart, but don't you wanna know where he's been?
A- yeah, but I just need a minute
Lr- but didn't you search for him for two weeks? If you were just gonna dip once you saw him, what was the point?
A- I honestly have no idea. I just wanted to make sure he was ok and I don't even know what I would've said to him if I found him in Mexico
Lr- yeah, maybe you should talk to him
A- lex, no?
Lr- I'm not saying now, I mean I know your experiencing a bunch of feelings and you need to sort them out before you go confront him. But what I'm saying is that you need to see him eventually
A- I know. I guess I need to go find an apartment quickly cause I can't stay with Danny anymore now that he moved
Lr- why don't you stay here for a while? I'm sure my parents will be fine with it
A- I don't know lex
Lr- we have our guest room you can stay in
A- maybe. But I still need to find an apartment or a house, we can't stay with your parents forever
Lr- I know, I plan on moving out before the baby comes, but I'm only a junior in high school
A- I'm not saying you have to move right now, but I do.
Lr- I get it. Do you want me to help look with you?
A- yeah, you probably could save me from wasting a lot of money on an apartment that's not safe
Lr- ok. When are you gonna look?
A- tomorrow
Lr- can we go after my online classes? I only have two so I'll be done around noon
A- ok, that's fine
Lr- I gonna go watch tv and you can come join me once you finish that bowl of cereal
A- ok
Lexi goes to sit down and Andrew gobbles the rest of his cereal. He just pours the bowl into his mouth and swallows most of it. He goes and puts his arm around Lexi on the couch after he washes his dish
Lr- that was really quick
A- yep, gobbled it up
Lr- like you did me
A- oh God Lexi
Lr- I know that was inappropriate as fuck though
Andrew makes a gobbling noise
Lr- oh no Andrew
A- what I was just acting it out
Lr- nevermind. Let's just watch this movie
A- ok
They watch the movie
Lr- I think it time for dinner
A- ok. What do you want?
Lr- maybe some chick fil a I guess
A- ok
Andrew orders some chick fil a for them online and gets it delivered.
Lr- thanks bae
A- no problem. Anything for my fiancée
Lr- I don't know why but that just sounds so weird. Like I'm engaged
A- I know, we sound so grown up
Lr- yeah and I'm not even an adult yet and we're like already in it.
A- what do you mean?
Lr- like we already started a whole other chapter in our lives when we're not even finished with the first one
A- yeah, kinda like we already graduated when we haven't
Lr- yeah it just feels so unrealistic
A- yeah I mean who could have expected we would be engaged and pregnant before we graduated
Lr- not me, but I always imagined it with you
A- me too, there could never be any other person
Lr- I've gotta go to the bathroom
A- ok babe
Lexi gets up and rushes to the bathroom. She pukes and stays in there for a couple of minutes and Andrew comes to check on her
A- you ok lex?
Lr- yep, I'm chillin
A- ok
Andrew sits on the floor next to her
Lr- what are you doing?
A- just chillin with you
Lr- ok
Lexi pukes again and Andrew holds her hair back
Lr- thanks
A- no problem
They sit there for a couple of minutes until Sebastian calls Andrew. He hangs up as soon as he sees who it is
Lr- who was that?
A- it was just Sebastian
Lr- go call him back
A- but I'd rather sit here with my beautiful fiancée
Lr- I know you would, but you can't just leave them in the past
A- why not?
Lr- cause their not your dad
A- you don't know my dad
Lr- I know that he left and you felt abandoned
A- you don't know what I feel
Lr- you know what? I don't, so how bout you go figure those feelings out
A- I will
Lr- Fine
A- Fine
Andrew storms out of the house and slams the door shut
Lr- ASSHOLE!
Andrew gets in his car and drives away. He suddenly realizes he has no place to go. He debates whether to go back to Lexi or talk to Sebastian and them. He turns around and drives back to Lexi's house. He runs in and sprints to the bathroom and sees Lexi still sitting there
A- I'm sorry
Lr- I'm sorry too, I shouldn't tell you how you feel
A- but your right, I do feel abandoned by him, but I will never do that to our kid or kids
Lr- let's just see how this one plays out
A- yeah
Lr- I'm sorry your dad left
A- it's not your fault and I'm sorry I yelled at you. I guess i was ashamed of feeling this way
Lr- you do know there's nothing to be ashamed about, right?
A- yeah I do now
Lr- I love you
A- I love you too
Lr- now help me up
A- ok
Andrew helps Lexi off of the ground and they go back to the couch and lie down for a while
