X was definitely not thinking during the fight. Haley raced after the Manipulator just as something growled behind him. He took no notice as the rest of his knives went to support Haley before pain struck his back.
He forgot about the victim of the manipulator.
Y sent a deep cut into his back as he went down, everything going dark instantly.

"X? X?! X!"
He blinked slowly, regaining his vision as tears hit his face. He focused his sight, now seeing Y over him. She hadn't noticed him, so he spoke in a soft voice.
"Y-chan?" She gasped as she touched his face.
"You're ok! I'm so sorry-" He stopped her.
"You're not the one at fault... But to clear things up... can you carry me-" She paused before nodding and picking him up, allowing him to rest his head on her shoulder. He then wiped her tears away. "You shouldn't be crying... it's bad for your health."
"X? Be quiet." He smiled as he leaned his head against her shoulder as he mumbled something about her being cute. "I heard that." His face was red in seconds.
