I felt as if I had aged three years by the time lunch came around. I stood up from my desk and walked to the cafeteria.
Slinging my bag off my shoulder I dropped it on the bench and went on line to buy lunch. While I was waiting, I spotted a flyer on the board.
Prom Tickets Now Available!
Shit. I completely forgot that Prom was in a few weeks. I had to figure out what I was wearing and possibly who I was going with.
Although the thought of it seemed long gone since Eric and I broke up.
He's such a dick.
No one else seems interesting enough to take, so it looks like it's either I go alone, or I take Hannah with me.
But that also might not be a choice if she decides to let her "balls" drop and ask the guy she's been totally in love with since middle school.
I sighed and walked forward, buying a cookie and fries on the way out. I wasn't really that hungry. I paid and went back to my seat to see everyone at the table.
I eye the certain someone I have to sit next to for the next forty minutes, but despite the fact, I slump down on the bench with a sigh.
I lean my elbows on the table and put a fry in my mouth. Jackson's hand is quick to reach over to my tray and attempt to take a few for himself.
I slap his hand away with a groan. "Buy your own fatass."
The two across from me, Finn and Hannah—funny enough, let out laughs at this.
I think they enjoy our bickering. Scratch that—I'm pretty sure they all do.
"What's got you all grumpy?" Hannah asks.
"Eric." I groan out his name, frustrating myself even further. I barely let them respond before I say more, "God, I haven't even seen him today but he's annoying me."
I take another fry and dip it into some ketchup, bringing it towards my mouth, my leg was bumped and the fry went off course, smearing the ketchup on the corner of my lips.
I wiped it away and threw the fry into my mouth, Hannah and Finn's laughter continuing. Quickly swinging my hand, I whack Jackson on the shoulder with no remorse.
He doesn't even turn to me, but overhearing Elliot's chuckle I can only assume he's smiling his ass off right now.
As if I couldn't get anymore annoyed.
I ignore him and turn back to Finn and Hannah who have delved into their own conversation. It only lasted a few more minutes until the topic was finished.
It was followed by Finn's question directed at me. "Alright, what's going on up there Ms. Grump?"
"Hmm?" I snapped out of thought, realizing I had zoned out.
And it was all because of that stupid boy that broke up with me over some bullshit. He's such a–
"You're scowling pretty hard right now Em. What's up?" Hannah's concern was evident.
"What do you think?" I let my hands fall onto the table, my response laced with a bit of anger. "Sorry," I was quick to apologize.
"What even happened between you guys?" she asked me.
I sighed and rolled my eyes.
Fuck it.
"Well to start, he wasn't around much, whether that was speaking or having time for me in general..." I started.
