"And did you just call him Jackie?" Finn's laugh fills the room.

I almost wanted to laugh with him but I keep my composure. "Jackie, can I ask you something?"

He leans forward and shuts my laptop a bit. "Can you stop calling me Jackie?" I could already hear the annoyance in his voice.

Perfect.

"Why? Do you not like it?" I asked dumbly.

"Nobody calls me Jackie," He puts an emphasis on the name. "And no I don't like it. But now that I say that, you'll probably start calling me it all the time."

I give him a smile of satisfaction. "You know me so well it's astonishing." I gush.

"Ok, where is this going?" Tyler asks from above me.

"Oh, right. Jackie." I say his new name again.

He sits back and starts mumbling something that makes Finn laugh.

"Jackie." I try again.

Still, he ignores me.

"Jackieeee." I drag out the name but still, nothing.

The others start to laugh as I become amused. But then I utter something that makes all their faces drop.

"Do you want to go to prom with me?"

The room falls silent for a split second as all eyes shift to me. It was so hard to hold back my laughter, but I stayed calm.

"What?" They all blurt in disbelief.

"Sorry, let me rephrase." I sit up and stare directly at him. "Jackson. Do you want to go to prom with me?"

Once more, the room goes quiet. I watch as he leans forward and closes my laptop, placing it on the coffee table.

"What?" he asks again.

I let out an exaggerated sigh. "Oh my god, are you, like, deaf? I asked if you wanted to go to prom with me."

I kept my voice calm and my expression quite serious. I look at the others and they just sit there with shocked expressions plastered on their faces.

"What the fuck is going on right now?" Nate asks, just as lost as the rest of them.

"Are you...okay?" Jackson asks, giving me a look. "Or did this concussion fuck up you're already weak mental state?"

Wow.

"I'm perfectly fine, but I'm gonna need an answer." I say, bringing up the topic at hand.

"She's not serious." Tyler assumes.

I turn to face him. "And why can't I be serious?" I repeat his comment. "Clearly I'm asking him. Why is that so weird?"

Tyler looks at me like I've gone crazy. "What do you mean why is that so weird!" he raises his voice. "You guys can't stand each other and now you're here asking him to prom! There's no way you're being serious!"

I want to laugh, so damn bad. But I don't. I just deliver him a shrug.

"Unless you guys are having sex behind our backs, then I-"

I gasp shortly and cough on the abrupt intake of air.

"Ok I'm done," I burst out laughing, uncontrollably. "God, you guys are too gullible sometimes." I practically wheeze out the words.

"I knew it!" Tyler shouts.

"Same. There was no way." Elliot agrees.

"Oh shut up El. I know I got you. I could see it in your eyes." I laugh, my oxygen supply waning.
