Adjusting to your old life came easier than you had expected but you were glad. It had been a year since your safe return to your world and you leaving Twisted Wonderland and when you returned safely, you were surprised that time seemed to have come to a standstill during your disappearance.

Despite your easy adjustment, however, you couldn't deny that you missed the friends you made at NRC, even Ace and Deuce. It was a bit unnatural to wake up the first few days to a peaceful silence - you had become so accustomed to being greeted with objects being dropped, spells being fired and the usual appearance of ADeuce or Floyd - but you couldn't deny, you missed peaceful silence in the morning.

You missed waking up to your mother humming downstairs, the smell of her cooking wafting through the house as your father knocked on your door to wake you each morning. As much as you missed your friends and NRC, you missed your home and your parents more. You practically knocked your door off it's hinges when your woke up in your world again, barreling down the hall to your parents room and startling them awake.

You cried like an infant, wailing and shrieking as you threw yourself between them, an arm squeezing each of them to your shaking body as you nestled between them, inhaling their scents and feeling their familiar warmth against you. You feared, for a split second, that this was a dream.

But when you looked between them momentarily, they looked concerned, your father's nightstand lamp switched on as he asked if you were alright. When your mother cupped your cheek however, staring into your eyes with her soft gaze, you knew - this was real; you were finally home.

You broke down all over again, sobbing and wailing louder as you collapsed into your mother's chest, clinging to her like a toddler. You remember crying out, begging them to let you sleep with them, shamelessly declaring you were afraid and needed them. Although they were concerned and taken aback - you were a highschool student, crying to sleep with your parents -, they agreed in a heartbeat.

You hadn't felt so secure and at ease in a while, your mother hugging you to her chest as if you were a little baby, your father hugging you and her from behind, pressing comforting kisses to your head a your mother soothed you with her words until you fell asleep.

The next morning, they questioned your behavior, shooting you concerned questions and glances.

"I had a nightmare.. I was taken away from you, to another world. It felt so real a-and I was so scared,"

They believed you - technically, it wasn't a lie - and per your mother's suggestion, you agreed to stay at home with her that day. And as you sat there, watching your mother fix your father's tie as he told you one of his infamous unfunny jokes, you laughed, nearly choking on your tea.
