Both of them clapped joyfully like toddler and started dancing all around holding each other's hand. It's true! It proved true. No matter what the rain must return to its birthplace, to Earth. and like this it curved on the canvas of their heart like universal truth that They also will come back to each other like this....eternally.
She jumped in his embrace and exclaimed "It's true Anirudh Babu. I will be back to you again and again, in the power of our eternal love.." "Promise?" he chuckled at her childlike behaviour. She affirmed without any delay "Promise.....!!!"
****************
"Promise..!!" He looked up to the rainy sky. Drops of tears rolled down unstoppably like the soft falling shower outside. Smiling faintly he collected some drops of rain in his palms and sprinkled in the air, caressing her picture lovingly whispered...
"See, the rain is fulfilling its promise. you must fulfill your promise, Bondita. you must return to me.....to drench my dried up soul, to bring back rainbows in my life, to fill my cracked, empty world, to give back my life. you can't break your promise, Bondita. Please d.. don't bre..break it...ple..ase...I.. can't........."
He squeezed his eyes tightly bitterly feeling a pang in heart. brimmed up tears wetted his already tears stricken cheeks. Leaned towards the window breathing heavily in uneasiness. unable to support himself anymore collapsed on the ground. hiding face in between knees cried silent tears. each drop of tears that fell on the ground stirred the soil in his pain. For the world he was strong but this four-walled house was known to his hidden real self. Which was witness of his endless pain, sleepless excruciating nights and the ground, which absorbed each drops of his tears in her. Supported him when he lose his vitality to control himself and knock down in grief.
"Anirudh....!!"
A voice mild alerted him. He stood up in a jerk. wiped off his face, wore the glasses, making him presentable came out of the Hut only to find Saurav outside. He sighed in relief. meanwhile the rain had stopped. He took Saurav inside the Hut. Saurav handed him some papers and they talked regarding work for a while. After some time Sourav asked him if he had dinner. Anirudh nodded negatively. Saurav sighed in disappointment. standing up was about to go to fetch food for him, Anirudh held his hand denied that he was in no mood to have food. Saurav knew his stubborness so well thus gave in.
"Saurav you know, finally I have completed it..."He sqeaked like a child joyfully. Saurav smiled in confusion to see his unusual behaviour. Yes unusual, at least for the last ten years. Because He rarely smiled heartily in the last ten years. And that too in Bondita's memories. Recalling his love he would smile and laugh at the same time.
"Really!what? " Saurav asked curiously. His tone of voice became chirpy to see the long lost smile on his friend's face. he was just praying that this smile on his face would last forever.
"The last painting Saurav. i have completed that. Bondita ki akhri tasveer...."
His voice cracked at the end forcing him to leave the sentence incomplete. As always Saurav's prayer didn't reach to sky. He saw, the excitement and spark on his countenance sunk in pool of tears that generated in his eyes automatically. In an instant he turned other side to hide them.
Gloominess appeared on Saurav's face too, to see his friend's futile attempt to hide those uncontrollably flowing tears from him. he knew this was coming. Anirudh could never smile without shedding tears.
Heaving a deep sigh, Saurav looked at him. Thought to uplifted his mood by asking him to show the painting but stopped. As he knew so well it would be no of use. Because, Anirudh never opened the door of the nest of love he had created to the world or to anyone, which was meant for his love and was preserved for his love only. So there's no point in insisting him. Neither they ever tried. In a life full of distress that was the only place where he found some peace thus they left him on his own.
