She feels like a mere puppet, manipulated by the whims of life, with misfortune pulling on her strings. She no longer wishes to participate in this cruel narrative. All she desires now is to close her eyes and find solace in eternal rest...

Y/n's eyes fluttered open, marking the end of yet another tormenting nightmare. Motionless, she lay there, her gaze fixed on the ceiling above. Each time this monstrous dream revisited her, it felt as fresh and harrowing as the first time, inflicting upon her the same waves of fear and sorrow.

The memory of those haunting red eyes lingered in her mind, a relentless presence that invaded even her dreams. They bore into her soul, filled with a perverse satisfaction as they witnessed the carnage unfold, bodies torn asunder, blood staining everything in its wake.

With a deep breath, she willed herself to calm the frantic beating of her heart. Recognizing the futility of trying to find solace in sleep, she rose from her bed and commenced her morning routine, seeking refuge in the familiarity of the tasks at hand.

Draped in a mint-colored kimono adorned with delicate patterns, complemented by an emerald-hued obi cinched around her waist, y/n surveyed her reflection in the mirror with a nod of approval. Satisfied with her appearance, she made her way to the kitchen, following the tantalizing aroma that wafted through the air.

As she entered the room, she found Yuki bustling about, her movements graceful and purposeful as she arranged an array of colorful and delectable dishes on the table. The sight of the meticulously prepared spread elicited a smile from y/n, who eagerly anticipated the forthcoming meal.

"I know you're behind the doorframe y/n. Come out and let's start eating."

Y/n couldn't help but let out a startled yelp as she realized she had been discovered so swiftly.

"How did you know?" y/n asked as she settled into her seat next to Yuki.

"I could easily sense your presence," Yuki replied with a smile, "you're extremely bad at concealing yourself, which brings me to my next point."

Spitting out her tea, y/n stared at Yuki incredulously. "WHAT?!" she exclaimed in disbelief.

The brunette said nothing in return and calmly ate her breakfast.

"Does that mean you're a demon slayer or something like that?" y/n pressed further, hoping for clarification.

Y/n sighed loudly, annoyed with Yuki's incomplete replies.

"Can't you give a straight answer for once?" she retorted, frustration evident in her voice.

"Beyond demons, there exist other creatures that stalk humans at night, devouring their souls," the brunette elucidated with a grave tone, opting to overlook y/n's remark.

"We refer to them as evil spirits, though they're known by various names. Demon slayers are typically unable to perceive these spirits, but there are a few gifted individuals who possess that ability," Yuki elucidated further.

"These individuals are known as exorcists. They form contracts with specific spirits to aid them in combat, yet in return for the powers granted, the exorcist must offer their soul to the contracted spirit upon their demise," Yuki elaborated.

Y/n was taken aback. Evil spirits? Exorcists? Contracts? It was all very new to her, and the more she learned about the subject, the more perplexed she became.

"The training is intense, and there's no certainty of success. Are you certain you're prepared for this?"

Y/n's gaze dropped to her lap, feeling the weight of her own inadequacy. Once more, she faced the painful truth: her weakness and dependence on others. Despite promising herself to become stronger and independent in her new life, old habits lingered, challenging her resolve.

Closing her eyes, she delved into the past, a realm she had tried to forget so many times before. Yet, if she wanted to progress, she realized she needed to confront it. She needed to remember, to unearth her mistakes and rectify them, lest they continue to haunt her and hinder her future endeavors.

Observing y/n's internal struggle, Yuki couldn't help but smirk in amusement. She had a strong inkling of what y/n's response would be, yet there was always the possibility of an unexpected twist. Perhaps y/n would surprise her with a decision she hadn't anticipated.

With newfound determination gleaming in her eyes, y/n made her decision clear.

"Yes, I know I can do this. I'll defeat Muzan myself!"

Chuckling softly, Yuki rose from her seat and enveloped y/n in a hug from behind the chair, her breath warm against y/n's ear as she whispered teasingly.

"I'm looking forward to it. Don't you dare disappoint me, y/n~"
