~Heya, the first story, let's go...Anyway, no tw for this one. The next one will be better.  Info rq: the reader is female, I'll try to make more nb readers in the future, sorry- Enjoy~

You just had a long day, being a mercenary was no easy job. Walking into the kitchen, the only person you saw was Engie. You quickly hid behind some boxes before the Texan saw you. He was fixing dinner and listening to the music on the radio. His all-time favorite song came on, and you giggled as he started humming along. Engie's humming soon turned into singing and he was dancing solo to the song. He wasn't half bad, his voice sounded tired, but overall, in tune. Surprisingly, his boots made little noise on the floor. You were mesmerized, your mouth opened while watching him. As the song ended, you couldn't help but clap. This caught his attention, causing him to turn around on his heels.

"Well, howdy, darlin'." The Texan smiled at you.

You stepped out of your hiding place, a tint of red dusting your face. He turned back around to the food he was making.

~Engie's POV~

I heard clapping. My heart suddenly sped up. Turning away from the food, I saw Y/N creep out behind some boxes. I just calmly smiled at her and spoke a few words. Once I realized, she had seen me singing and dancing, I turned back to the food. Lord, my face was so red, I could've been a stop sign.

~Y/N POV~

He turned back toward the food. You thought maybe he was a bit shy, which made a smile creep onto your face. Taking a couple of steps forward, you peered over his shoulder, standing on your tippy toes. The food looked done, and boy did it look delicious.

"Wooah...Engie, this looks great!" You finally spoke.

He just smiled, trying to hide his blush. You noticed a bit of pink in his cheeks, but thought it must've been from cooking, yknow, the heat of the stove. The sizzling died down as he reached and turned the dial off. With a quick swoosh, the flame went out underneath the pan. You backed up a bit, not wanting to get in his way. He was still busy making dinner but had the time to talk to you.

"So...ah saw ya kill that spah out there." He tried to strike up a conversation.

"Yeah, he deserved it." You sat down at the table.

He nodded, getting out plates for everyone. You had always liked Engie. He was quiet most times, didn't let his anger loose, and worked hard. Unlike most of the guys. Scout being the most annoying one. You continued to talk to Engie as he set everything up. He was fun to talk to, you loved hearing his accent. Both of you had gone so deep in conversation you hadn't noticed the mercs walk in one by one.

"Mph mmph!" Pyro spoke, bringing you two back to reality.

You both looked around to see the mercs eating and decided to join.

~Timeskip~

You scrubbed on the plates, then dried them, repeating the process over and over. Your class was in charge of doing the dishes, no matter who cooked. Not that you were complaining, if you did, you'd be in trouble anyhow. You took a glance around. Since the kitchen is connected to the living room, you could see some of the mercs. Scout and Pyro were staring at the tv, Scout looking bored as hell. Heavy and Medic were going through books. Demoman was passed out on the recliner. You chuckled to yourself and got back to your job. Once done, you dried your hands and started heading to your room. Since your room was close to Engie's, you decided to stop by. Knocking on his door, you heard a bang from inside. You knocked again, hearing some mumbling as he got closer to the door.

"Whadda ya want Spah- Oh, hey Y/N!" His face instantly lit up.

You smiled and he stepped aside so you could come in. You could see he was working hard; his workshop was a mess. He scooted behind you and closed the door. You looked around, not seeing the Texan's place this unorganized in a while. You spun on your heels and looked at the man. (Had to look up mind you, you're kinda short).

"So, uh...whatcha doin' Engie?" You rocked back and forth, smiling.

"Just ya know, fixin' the sentry."

You nodded, still smiling up at him. He smiled back, though you couldn't tell, since it was dark in his workspace. A small desk lamp was the only source of light.

~Engie's POV~

She just kept staring at me, smiling. Lucky the only light wasn't a bright one, or she'd see the color my face was. I didn't mind her being in here, long as she didn't hurt herself while I was working. She stopped rockin' on her feet and stepped out of the way.

"I didn't mean to disturb you, just wanted to see what you were doing, Engie."

That voice, so soft...heavenly. Your face darkened at your thoughts.

"N-nah, it's no biggie. And ya can call me Dell, darlin'..." I said, mumbling at the end.

~Y/N POV~

Engie became nervous after he mumbled the last bit. Too bad you had heard him. Your smile grew as your face darkened with a blush.

"Alrighty...Dell~." You winked at him.

You wished it was brighter in the room, then you could have seen his flustered expression better. Though, the more you thought about it, the more you realized he would be able to see your heated face too!

"N-now don't go doin' that, sugar." He stuttered out.

Oh, ho ho. Now he was giving you the nicknames. You gave a little smirk, then yawned. Blinking, you looked around for a clock. Damn, you had only been here five minutes, yet it took you an hour to do those damn dishes. Soldier would not be happy with the two of you staying up past "curfew" as he called it. Dell patted your head and went back over to his desk, his face now fully visible in the light. He was bending over as his eyes darted back and forth as if he was trying to force the blush to leave. You yawned again and dramatically flung yourself onto his back. He jumped a bit and looked back at you.

"Now what in sam hill are you doin' there darlin'?" He stood up.

You pouted, since now your feet were back on the ground. He sighed and then picked you up and spun you around.

"Better?" He asked, hugging you close to him.

Your face had gone red by the unexpected act, but you nodded, rubbing your tired eyes. It'd been a long day; you just didn't expect to be this tired...so soon too. You buried your face in his neck, sleep taking control of your brain.

"I love you." You mumbled and yawned again.

"Heh, love you too, Y/N." He kissed your cheek.

~Woo, end. He put you to bed and then when you woke up, he made you a pancake breakfast. ~
