"What is wrong with him doctor?" A distressed Padmini asked Dr.Suri, who had just calmed Rajendra and was now currently sitting in his cabin
"Mam your son is dealing with PTSD" he said, still not able to comprehend completely the mental state of his patient
"PTSD? but Doctor he was not involved in any accident what kind of stress is he going through! And where is his wife?" Padmini asked perplexed, why had Rani not informed anyone of them about Raja's condition, infact she was not even here, Rani was never so irresponsible
"Mam, from what we have been able to make out from the intervals of consciousness of your son, is that your daughter-in-law has died in some accident in front of your son!" The Doctor informed
"What!" Padmini was in shock, Rani died? How?
She knew there were few problems in their life, but this! Had Raja really pushed Anjali to this? How will she face Rekha? What was she to do?
"Mam ...mam are you alright?" Padmini was still staring blankly at the doctor
"I..I how is my son? Can I talk to him now?" Padmini finally asked still not comprehending completely that Anjali had died? It was not possible! Rajendra loved Anjali more than anyone in the world, she knew even more than her! How was it possible that Anjali had died when Rajendra was with her?
"He has been sedated Mam, he won't wake up for 4 hours atleast but you can observe him if you want, he sometimes talks in his sleep, may be you might help us into piecing together his mind"
Dr.Suri took Padmini towards Rajandra's room and made her sit there, while he went about his other duties.
Few Hours later
Padmini was ashamed, did Raja really do all that he was murmuring about! How was she to face Rekha?did She even know?
She will be devastated, and Anjali poor Anjali, what has her son done to that sweet little girl!
Padmini was just sitting there, still lost in her thoughts when she heard some commotion from inside.
There were doctors and nurses rushing towards her sons room, she quickly followed
There, she saw Raja thrashing on the hospital bed
"I want to go to my Rani!, how can I leave her alone!" Raja was shouting
"Please sir calm down!" The nurses and doctors were trying to calm him by holding his hands and legs to prevent him from hurting himself
"Why are you'll not leaving me in peace! I want to join my Rani! She will be lonely without me, I had told her I'll always be with her, no matter what!" He was struggling and shouting, tears rolling down his cheeks
"Raja.....what have you done to Anjali and yourself" Padmini murmured looking at her son's condition through the glass partition of the hospital room
Dr.Suri sedated him by injecting him with some kind of sleeping drugs, because he calmed down and slept
"Mam" he called out for her
"Mam you cannot be weak now, you cannot cry, he might then completely lose his mind"
Padmini had not even realised she was crying
"Doctor, what should I do? How should I help my son!?" She asked, though she had no idea what could help her son, only Anjali could save him and she is ..... ..... Padmini could not even bring herself to think about it
"Mrs. Padmini if you could bring someone close to your son's Rani, and they can just talk to him, because either he has immense guilt or immense love for Rani, and since Rani, is dead, you have to find someone who can console your son, because I am afraid he might not even recognize you" Dr.Suri said in a neutral voice
How can he talk like this! How can he say so casually that Rani has died? How can he say that her son won't recognize her also? How can he say that she has to ask an already aggrieved mother to help her son, when her son was the reason, why her daughter died? How can he.....
"I... Dr.Suri I wish to talk to my son once, he will recognize me, I cannot ask Rekha.... I just" Padmini felt as if the words were choking her
He gave her a kind smile "As you wish Mam"
Padmini waited for a few hours while the effect of sedatives ran out
She was sitting beside Rajendra when he opened his eyes
She was patting Rajendra's head gently
"Son, how are you feeling now!" She asked him gently
"I am fine Mom, where is Rani?" Padmini knew it, how can her son forget her, but Anjali...... what should she tell him? Should she tell him the truth?
He might not be able to take it , but now would be better than later, the sooner he accepted the fact the better
"Anjali is dead Rajendra" Padmini said softly, still unable to believe it herself
She saw his face, first blank, then sad and then angry
He gripped her hand tightly "who are you woman!? How dare you say my Rani is dead! GET OUT! GET OUT NOW!"
he started thrashing on the bed shouting and cursing violently
Dr.Suri immediately came in to control him
Tears were rolling down his cheeks and he was again and again shouting, that nothing had happened to his Rani
Padmini could not control her tears looking at her son's state
"What have you done Rajendra, to Anjali and yourself" she whispered
But one thing was clear, the only way to cure Raja was if Rekha came...
Padmini had to be shameless for her son
