Ash: gengar no!
(We see gengar falling somewhere in the distance as we see it bounce off multiple trees before it's hit by a Thunderbolt from an electivire as it lands on the ground and starts to get back up as we see the electivire as gengar looks at it as the gang arrive)
Ash: gengar! (Sees electivire) no way, electivire! (He seems to recognise the electivire as we see why as we see Paul emerge)
Paul: is that your gengar.
Ash: it's Paul!
Goh: Paul? Who's that? (Pikachu looks ready to battle as it has a competitive face as electivire nods to it as gengar is now fully standing up but falls down as Ash rushes to catch it)
Ash: gengar are you alright! (Backs away as he gets burned as gengar has this fire aura like the other fire types for a brief moment) hot!
Goh: how can that be gengar is usually cold?
(Y/N): yeah.
(They both feel it as it's indeed cold as gengar then leaps on Ash and hugs him)
Ash: what do you know, cold.
Paul: you're useless, at the very least you should know your Pokémon's condition.
Ash: of course I know that!
Goh: hey Ash, you know that guy?
Ash: yeah, we go way back when I travelled through Sinnoh he was a rival I battled a bunch of times, he's a trainer named Paul.
Paul: hm.
Goh: (intimidated) uh nice to meet you. You can call me Goh. (Whispers to Ash) he's kinda scary ya know.

Oak: hey Ash! (Y/N)! Goh!
Ash: professor Oak!
