Bellatrix's day started normally.

That is, as normal as a goddess disguised as a human going on a trip to Earth can get.

Bellatrix, along with her best friends Frode and Astrid, had come to grace Earth with their presences with the pure intent of a vacation, of sorts.

They hadn't exactly expected a kid to be dumped at their laps. A god under disguise, no less.

"Earth is so weird." Bellatrix commented. They were sitting in a "café", or whatever the humans called it. In all her 222,223 years of living, she had only been to Earth a handful of times, almost all of them were for war missions. When she wasn't there to go on missions, she usually spent her time in Norway. Probably her favorite place on this insignificant and unimpressive planet.

"It's not that weird," Frode retorted. "You just haven't been here enough to appreciate Earth."

Bellatrix rolled her eyes. "You know, I still don't get the whole point of this 'vacation', or whatever. I'd much rather be in my palace, planning my next battle and having a couple of nice drinks."

Bellatrix looked up. A young woman made her way towards them, balancing a tray on her hands. On top of the tray were their drinks. It looked a lot more colorful than the wine Bellatrix was used to.

The woman took the drinks off the tray and placed them on the table in front of each of them with a soft smile, and left. Her gaze lingered on them for a second too long, and Bellatrix noticed,  but paid no mind to it. Bellatrix looked down at the drink she had ordered. Or rather, the drink Astrid ordered for her. She had been to Earth a lot more than Bellatrix had. Probably even more than Frode, which was saying a lot.

She gingerly picked it up, sniffing the drink. It smelled weird, something Bellatrix was certain she's never smelled before.

"What is this?" She asked Astrid, glaring at her. "It's unlike anything I've ever smelled before."

Astrid rolled her eyes. "It's coffee."

Bellatrix blinked. "C-coffee?" She asked suspiciously. "That explains nothing."

Astrid sighed dramatically.

"It's a type of drink." She said wryly.

"Very funny."

"It's something most mortals seem to enjoy very much. Without anything added into it, it's very bitter, but can be adjusted if milk, cream, or sugar is added." Frode explained. "Apparently, humans also drink it to prevent themselves from falling asleep."

"Oh." Bellatrix said, feeling very stupid in her limited knowledge of Earth compared to her two friends. She picked up the cup again, tentatively lifting the drink to her lips and taking a small sip of the dark liquid. She blinked again and frowned in confusion.

"It... does taste kind of bitter." She said at last, getting used to the taste. "It's not as bad as I thought."

"HA!" Astrid shouted triumphantly. "Bard owes me twenty bucks!"

"Bucks?" Bellatrix asked, confused. "Like, twenty reindeers? Why would you need that many?"

Astrid looked at her incredulously. "No, like human money."

"Oh." She said again, again feeling stupid. "What did you even bet with him, anyway?" She asked curiously.

"He said you wouldn't enjoy coffee. He was wrong."

"Wait," Bellatrix interjected. "I never said I liked it!"

Astrid shrugged. "Bard doesn't need to know."

Frode snorted in amusement. Bellatrix was about to say something, when a panicked woman ran into the café with great hurry, a small child bundled tightly in her arms. The trio looked at each other in confusion.

The woman took one look around the nearly empty café, and her eyes landed on the trio. She ran forward, hastily shoving the child in Bellatrix's arms, and then taking off.

"Wha-"

The three didn't have time to stand up and chase after her when the woman disappeared out the door again. By the time Astrid and Frode had gotten out, the woman was no where to be found.

A now Bellatrix was stuck with a tiny brat of a human child in her arms, sleeping soundly.

She glared at it, waiting for it to perhaps just disappear. This stupid mortal baby was in the arms of the infamous Warlust of Inomnia, and it didn't even have the decency to even be afraid. It was lying the scarred arms that had snapped the necks of so many, and it was sleeping soundly.

The audacity.

"What do we do with it?" Bellatrix asked. She had the sudden urge to just violently wake it up and throw it across the room.

"Don't call him an it!" Frode exclaimed. Bellatrix shot him an irritated a glare.

"Fine, what do we do with him?" She asked again, glaring spitefully down at the child.

"Take care of him until the police show up?" Astrid suggested. Bellatrix stared at her blankly.

"People who prevent crime." Frode clarified.

"Riiiight," Bellatrix said. "How long is that gonna take?"

Astrid and Frode looked at each other. "They said about fifteen minutes."

"Great. Now can you get this thing off me now?"

Frode leaned forward, taking the kid in his arms. As soon as he did, the baby started wailing, starting up a racket so big it felt like Bellatrix's ears were bleeding. Frode quickly let go, pushing it back into Bellatrix's arms. As soon as he did, it settled down and continued sleeping.

Bellatrix looked up at them incredulously.

"No." She said firmly. "I'm not having a mortal baby on me for another fifteen minutes."

Astrid snorted impatiently. "Oh come on, don't be dramatic." She said.

"That's a mortal! I will kill you both I swear!"

"Be patient!"

Bellatrix didn't have time to respond.

The child transformed in her arms, bright light blinding her. The weight and size of the child grew and grew until she was holding a human in her arms. Only, he wasn't actually a human. A god under a disguise.

The bright light faded to reveal none other than Calder Colborn, the God of Mischief and Fidelity, cackling loudly.

Bellatrix let out a string of curses so vulgar, Frode would have her head.

She really was gonna kill someone today.
