As the group trudged their way back to the community centre to grab their things. Maya took this an an opportunity to get to know these people. Might as well make some friends whilst she was here.

Unfortunately, most of the others didn't seem that keen. She scanned the group, trying to work out which one seemed the most approachable before deciding on the scrappy one from earlier.

She quickened her walking pace before strolling alongside her who gave her a mixed look of confusion and annoyance.

"Errr you alright" scrappy asked with a raised brow being physically unimpressed by the other girls encounter.

"Alright as you can be for someone about to go paint benches for 5 hours. I'm Maya by the way" she smiled warmly before looking towards them both to see Irish still winding up Poundland a few metres ahead.

"I'm Kelly -" she stated simply before rolling her eyes aggressively before adding "he's such a prick" obviously regarding the lanky Irish boy who was now busy asking vampire wether he could speak or if he was just audibly impaired.

"Agreed. So you from around here or" Maya asked in desperation to keep the conversation flowing. It seemed that Kelly wasn't much of a talker.

She sighed in failure as she found a abnormally large bucket and began to fill it with paint before racking her brain for something else to say.

Before she could add something else, Kelly decided it was time for her to make her exist and lumbered through the community service corridor carrying her bucket of paint with ease.

Maya furrowed her brows. This is so embarrassing, she can't even fucking lift the can of paint up. I mean it was pretty heavy and she was slim and lanky with no upper body strength but like still. Embarrassing.

Hot girl and vampire seemed to be having the same problem to, as muscles picked up two buckets with ease, one for himself and another for hot girl who had been eye fucking him ever since they had met.

Maya squinted her eyes in disappointment. There goes her plans for some seasonal romance. But she had to admit they did look good together.

She watched as they moped of together flirting the entire way, which led to  her and vampire standing awkwardly in the supply closest hoping for Jesus himself to come and save them.

Vampire didn't seem much like a socialiser himself so Maya decided it was time to turn up the charisma. "Well I guess we should introduce ourselves" she laughed in an attempt to break the ice, although it led to another bracket of silence on vampires behalf.

Maya blinked in confusion before trying again. "I'm Maya, what's ur name ?" She asked in a friendly manner, hoping a more gentle approach would get him to talk.

"Simon" he replied awkwardly his voice cutting invisible ice as Maya grimaced in defeat. "Well-"

"You two better not be jacking of in here" a Irish voice gasped in a fake telling of voice that got louder as he entered the small closet.

"And in a closet how dirty.." he grinned before making grunting noises which Maya couldn't help but snort before turning to face him completely.

"Are you into that?" He added turning to Maya with a smirk.

"We're not having sex" Simon murmured as Maya slapped a hand to her forehead in humiliation. This kid just makes it worse for himself.

"Whatever you say, weird kid- hey you- purple girl from earlier, you never answered my question about your"

Irish gestured towards his own set of curls in a performative manner before looking at Maya again with a smirk growing on his face.

"There's nothing to really say I just like the colour purple" she shrugged with a smile appreciating the lack of silence which had filled the room minutes before.

"That's quite a coincidence, purple is my favourite colour. I guess it was made to be" He replied in a attempted seductive tone so over the top that Maya couldn't help to laugh at.

"I think I'll say no to that offer, but when I pass any other purple headed girls on the street and I'll let you know"

Seeming unbothered by her statement he just grinned before picking up a bucket of paint with difficulty, looking back to see her and Simon still standing there awkwardly.

"Jesus Christ are these shitting buckets filled with stones from my mums lawn? why the fuck are they so heavy?" He complained before setting his own down after approximately 5 seconds.

"This has got to be some sort of child labour. We should sue you know" he added looking back at Simon who was looking at Irish with a fearful face.

"We could  share the paint, we're just painting benches" Simon commented, which as a matter of fact was quite a logical idea to Maya. Especially since that was the plan with the least about of physical movement involved.

"Nice one weird kid" Nathan nudged Simons arm in a playful manner which Simon did not seem to reciprocate.

Maya looked to the side, deciding whether she say something despite the fact it was none of her business. In the end, she decided she didn't care.

"Don't listen to him he's a prat, it's a good idea" she smiled before stepping past both of them so she escape them both. Jogging a little as she got past both of their eyesight.
