Rosalind and Elena took charge of looking for Damon.

Caroline and Tyler had opted to remain in Mystic Falls to supervise Jesse. Tyler felt it was all his fault that Jesse was now stuck as a Ripper (and cannibal) vampire. Caroline was simply the best when it came to helping someone learn control (this was something they all agreed on). Stefan was going to be pitching in, but given the fact he and Caroline had helped each other in the past with this sort of thing, it was best all three remained at Jesse's side to see if they could help him.

"I think there's only one possibility," said Rosalind after they'd scoured the entire school, even the lab in the Biology building. "Dr. Maxfield took Damon. When have we ever known Damon to shut off his phone? We would be able to find it otherwise. And he answers calls and texts... if he'd killed Wes, he would have called us to brag about it and tell us where he was buried. Wes lost his vampire test subject yesterday. How much do you want to bet he decided to replace him with Damon?"

Elena nodded. "I don't doubt you're right. But, if that's the case, how are we going to find him? Did you actually get to mind-search Wes?"

"No. Which is a bummer, otherwise I'd know all about his secret hiding places. They can't have gotten far. Subduing a vampire like Damon for long periods of time in order to transport him anywhere else would have been very complicated. They've got to be nearby. Maybe there's another lab in Wes's name that we don't know about."

"Maybe," mused Elena, "Aaron would know."

"Are you sure you want to ask Aaron about this? His guardian turned his roommate into a vampire and we had to kidnap said roommate to lock him in Caroline's family cell because he almost chewed my head off."

"He needs to know the truth about what's happening. Don't you think? I mean, I don't think Wes has told him anything, but he should know the risk he runs being near Wes. What if Jesse had killed Aaron? I learned my lesson after what happened to Jenna. Being surrounded by a supernatural world and being oblivious because the people around you think they're protecting you... it does more harm than good. He needs to know."

Rosalind sighed. "Okay." She leaned her arm against Elena's shoulder. "You're leading the conversation though, love."

Elena smirked. "I'm happily getting used to all these nicknames."

"Are you, princess?"

That one made Elena's cheeks redden. "Mhm."

"Shh, push aside those dirty little thoughts, angel, we've got to go see Aaron, remember?"

Elena huffed at her then led the way to Aaron's room. Rosalind followed, grinning to herself.

The doppelgänger knocked on the door, waiting patiently for the boy inside (who they could sense was definitely home) to open up and let them in. He did after a few seconds. "Aaron, hey!" said Elena brightly.

"Hey," said Aaron, looking sad. "Um, come in. Jesse still isn't back, so..."

Rosalind glanced at Elena, wondering what exactly Aaron knew about Jesse's disappearance. "When was the last time you saw him?"

"A few days ago. Haven't been able to contact him since. I already filed a missing person's report. This is all getting to be really, really weird. What's up with this college? It's supposed to be different. I came here to start fresh, get away from all the crap in my past."

"I get it," said Elena soothingly. "After everything you've been through, everything that you've lost, I would want to start over too."

Aaron shrugged. "So, um, why are you two here?"
