"You ready to do this." John b walked up to the tan girl who was smiling and fist bumped him
It was a little early but Azariah was wide awake and smiling "Of course I am! Now let's go make some money."
They high-fived each other up high then swung their hands so they high fived each other low and wrapped pinkies, kissing their own thumbs
It was their own secret handshake that they had.
As the two stood in front of the Cameron property they did a fist bump before parting ways
John B going to their dock and boat while Azariah headed towards the house. She was so excited to start working
When she walked into the house she was greeted with a hug by Rose
The woman sounded very excited and explained that wheezie was upstairs, Ward was already at work and Sarah is hanging out with friends at the golf course
So when the teen went up the stairs she was completely shocked to bump into a man. A person who was not mentioned to be here in outer banks
"Oh um hi Rafe, I, uh didn't expect you to be here." A slight smile was held across her face
Him not so much. He seemed very frantic and nervous
With red eyes he spoke holding a quiver in his voice "I um—I need to go"
His voice was so uneasy it made Azariah nervous. He was supposed to be in college....
The main question was why was he back home and crying? But she knew she wasn't going to get an answer so she just dropped it and watched him leave
And so as the Cameron boy left the teen awkwardly looked around then went upstairs, knocking on wheezies door
"Hi Wheezie it's me Azariah. Uh I'm here to watch you." She was speaking weirdly, like awkward and shy
Which is funny, because she is not shy
But luckily she only stood there for two more seconds before the door open and she was immediately pulled into a bear hug "oh my gosh hi Azariah!!"
The little girls voice was high pitched and you could just tell she was so excited
And she definitely was "I was waiting for you, and even though I told rose I don't need a babysitter because I'm 11....I'm very happy you're FINALLY here."
Rapidly pulling out three books and a few movies the little girl proudly held them up "Look! I got three new books for us to read and we can watch these movies." Her voice was so chirpy and she sounded so excited to hangout with Azariah
Many hours had passed and her first day of work was done! But as she was leaving the Cameron estate she saw what looked like a man arguing with Rafe by his motorbike
So naturally she walked up to them to try and break it up "Hey, uh is everything ok?"
The other man with his black hair in a man bun slightly turned to face the Barlowe and gave her a look "Yeah everything's alright pretty girl, why don't you go home."
"Oh well I was actually coming to get Rafe for dinner, so why don't you go home?" She tilted her head and gave him a fake smile. The Cameron boy gave a blank look. He didn't know what Azariah was doing and what her plan was but he didn't want her to get caught in the crossfire
And the guy didn't like how a prissy little teen stood up to him "Ayo country club who is this?"
He laughed and pointed at the Azariah. And though even the question was kinda retorical, she still answered with fake tone and glare
"No one you need to know. But if you're really wondering, I'm someone who can sue you for not getting off this property." A small smile was held on on her face as she told him off
Not wanting to do anything he would regret the guy left but not without saying something "Ay this isn't over rich boy"
The man's volume was the same but his tone was hostile. Not that Azariah cared
Her entire focus was on Rafe. No part of her body cared about that other man, but she was relieved when he left. Not cause she was scared of him
But because Rafe seemed scared and nervous
Once the man left she immediately looked at the blonde boy and asked him a question quietly and nice. She genuinely felt really bad for him, even if this was his fault
"Hey are you ok Rafe." She was asking if he was ok in all aspects, which he didn't catch on to that
Communicating was hard for him, and especially to some girl he finds cute
But he put his pride aside and responded calmly "Yeah I'm fine. Look Azariah I appreciate you coming over here but I didn't need that; and I certainly don't need you getting hurt."
He wasn't yelling or trying to be rude but he knew too many people cared about the girl for her to get hurt. So his tone was a little harsh
Which didn't bother the girl. She just nodded and adjusted her shorts nervously. It's something she does
So the girl just agreed before lighlty smiling and speaking "Well a simple thank you would've been good, but uh be safe ok."
A interesting thing she found comfort in when she was anxious was sarcasm. It was one of those things that you just had to do when something was awkward or weird
Yet for someone else, they absolutely hated sarcasm in serious situations
Although Rafe found himself lightly smiling as he shook his head while Azariah walked away
That girl was going to have such a hold on him, and he didn't even know it
