Vampires have strengths, weaknesses and powers of their own, similar or different what media wants you to believe.
Higher pain tolerance (stronger/tougher build bodies) than humans, and thus more durable.
Strong senses (compared to a human).
Can only die via unnatural death. (Everybody dies when somebody puts something through your heart, whether it is a wooden stake or not.)
Mirrors reflect their image, except for silver mirrors.
Have to ask for permission to enter a building only once.
The closer a vampire was born to the equator, the more resistant they are to the effects of sunlight.
The further away a vampire is born from the equator, the stronger are their vampiric powers.
Some vampires can turn into bats, others into shadows, others are super-fast, and others have to walk like any other without powers (Kara belongs into the super-fast category).
Can hypnotise anyone with a 'weaker' mind than their own. (The mood of the to-be-hypnotized have a grave influence on the outcome.)
Effects of garlic is a normal allergy, not every vampire has it (Kara does not have it). Some even enjoy a blood stream full of garlic. They were the ones to tell humans that garlic would affect vampires in a bad way.
A human cannot be turned into a vampire, neither can any other species.
Like any other species, individuals can be infertile but not everyone is.
Cannot intake anything but blood or the juice of a plant newly developed by a vampire scientist in 1912 to aid in hiding from humans.
