Chapter 5: Roulette

Later, Liana's force into a dress, a black wig and is tied to a chair with her mouth and wrists tied. Liana hears someone walk in and they cock their gun. Liana has tears rolling down her cheeks and then she hears a familiar voice say, "I guess your luck hasn't run out." Liana thinks Oliver and hears him walk closer to her and she turns around to face him. Oliver softly says, "Liana?" Oliver then hears a gun cock behind him and a voice who he knows as Victoria says, "I'm disappointed, Oliver. You lack the killer instinct after all. Toss the gun." Oliver tosses the gun and Oliver says, "You know, true gamesmen... they don't cheat by stacking the deck." Victoria says, "Well, everything was aces until your girlfriend showed up. As always, I had to play the hand I was dealt." Oliver says, "So, why don't you just let her go?" Victoria says, "You didn't play by my rules. Why should I play by yours? You were supposed to shoot her." Oliver says, "See, that's what I don't understand. You could've killed her yourself. You could've shot me when I walked through the door. Why set the scene?" Victoria says, "One can tie up loose ends with a simple square knot or... one can choose the more elegant cloverleaf. It's all a matter of style. Oh, and I'd say I'm sorry for taking your money except, in your case, it hardly matters. You can't take it with you." Victoria then starts shooting and Oliver ducks for cover. Oliver shouts, "So, how do I know this isn't just part of your game?" Victoria keeps shooting and Oliver says, "Right." Oliver hears Victoria's gun is out of bullets, so he crawls and finds his gun and points it at Victoria, only to see that Victoria is using Liana as a shield. Victoria says, "Shoot her." Oliver says, "She knows I won't, not if there's a chance, I'd hit you." Oliver then sniffs the air and Victoria says, "Gasoline. I thought I'd torch the place when we're done." Oliver says, "Clover knot." Victoria says, "No. I just like playing with fire." Victoria takes out a lighter and lights it. Then she closes the lighter and says, "Never bet against the house." Victoria pushes Liana off the chair and she hits her head and is knocked unconscious.

Later, Liana goes to see Oliver at his office. Liana walks through his door and she says, "So. What was that about?" Oliver says, "Okay, the lady who attack you and me was a psycho ex-girlfriend who watched "Fatal Attraction" too many times." Liana says, "So, what am I, the bunny?" Oliver chuckles and Liana continues to say, "Oliver, you really need to take a dip in the same-chick pool. I mean, that dress... that was a bigger Red Scare then Cold War Russia." Oliver smiles and says, "Although, I-I thought you wore it pretty well." Liana smiles and Oliver continues to say, "But, um... you never should've been dragged into this mess I made of my life, and, uh... I'm sorry." Liana's eyes get watery, and she says, "Was the mess so bad... that cleaning it up seemed harder than throwing it all away?" Oliver says, "Um--" Liana cuts Oliver off and says, "I saw the video. That's enough to send anyone on a binge. Why didn't you come talk to me?" Oliver says, "Pride. Fear. And, um... regret. Liana, the truth is, I've been fighting my demons for so long I just... wanted this war to end." Liana says, "And you felt... like there was nothing in life worth fighting for?" Oliver says, "I never felt that way when I was with you. I mean, uh... I just, I-I just, I think what I man is I-I, uh... I lost sight of what was good in my life. I know things between you and me have changed, right?" Liana softly says, "Some things haven't changed. Ollie, I will always be here for you. And if you forget that again... I will freeze your arm." Oliver smiles and says, "Okay." Liana smiles and says, "Now, I believe there's a certain birthday tradition we have to uphold?" Oliver says, "Right. So, what crazy idea do you have planned?" Liana says, "I was thinking drunk laser tag." Oliver chuckles and says, "Okay."
