RACHEL

“Good Morning Miss Cave, please come through.” Daisy the receptionist says.

“Thanks Daisy.” I said as I followed the small blonde girl through to my agent’s office.

He was sitting at his large desk facing the window that looked out over the Sydney Harbour. He turned as we walked in and waved me to the chair in front of his desk. I smiled slightly at Daisy as she walked out of the room and then I sat down on the comfortable leather chair. I found myself looking out the window and watching as a large ship navigated through the harbour.  A few moments later Mr Paige my agent hung up his phone.

“Rachel, thank you for coming in on such short notice.”

“That’s fine Mr Paige. I was intrigued by your phone call, not to mention eager for my first job.” I said eagerly.

“Very good.” The older man said. “Now our client has asked me to keep this extremely top secret. So before I tell you who this job is for I have to ask you a few questions and if you answer satisfactorily then I will let you know if you can have the job.”

I raised my eyebrows, but nodded anyway. I needed the money desperately.

“Firstly, this job will require you to move to London immediately, Will that be ok?” Mr Paige said looking over the top of his glasses at me.

My eyes lit up at thought of finally being able to go overseas and seeing some of the world and London was the one place that I wanted to see most in the world.  I had nothing at all holding me here so I nodded quickly.

“That will not be a problem at all.”

“Good, good, now you will need to leave at the latest tomorrow afternoon.”

“That is fine. I have nothing here that I have to do so I could leave now if I wasn’t here with you.” I said.

“Excellent, now the contract will be for 6 months.  All expenses will be covered by the client and an apartment and car will be available if you require them.”

“Ok well I won’t need a car because I don’t drive however as I don’t really know much about London if an apartment was to be provided that would be great.”

Mr Paige made a note on the paper in front of him.

“How do you feel about homosexuality?” Mr Paige asked looking at me carefully.

“Well I don’t really have those kinds of feelings toward girls but if it was for a job then I guess it would be ok.” I said cautiously, what a strange question to ask.

“Oh no dear girl, I mean in general, do you have a problem with it?” Mr Paige said blushing.

“Oh, I don’t see there is anything wrong with it at all. If two men or two women love each other then I believe they should be able to be together without anyone judging them.” I said. I watched Mr Paige as he looked over his notes and then the list of questions.

“Very good answer Miss Cave, by the looks you have meet all the requirements that the client has asked.  I will ask you straight out though do you want the job.”

I looked at Mr Paige, “Yep I would love to accept.”

“Excellent. Ok If you would like to go to lunch for an hour or so, I have to confirm everything with the client and get the contracts done up.”

“Ok sure.” I said standing up. “I will see you soon.” I walked towards the door and went out into the reception area.

“I will be back soon Daisy, Mr Paige is just getting the contracts organised.”
