As I set foot into the entrance of the white building, Kara was just walking out of the main hall. A mountain of books in her arms. Once she saw me, she quickly dropped them on the table and walked toward me, worry shining in her eyes. Wow. I must look terrible.
"Young Hector, art thee alright?" She asked me, looking me up and down. "Please, lay down. Why art thee not with a nurse?"
"I came here, because I was told to go to you to get home, or whatever." I told her, just realising how silly that sounded. When I saw her eyes widen however, I knew it was not at all silly.
"At once." She nodded. "Please sit down. I shall get my coat first."
"Wait... is that okay?" I asked her as she went to a back room, before coming out with an old looking robe.
"Psyche is busy at the moment and I hath volunteered myself beforehand, to take care of thee, if situations like these were to arise." She explained.
"How does Melanie know about that?" Everything was so confusing.
Kara smiled and laughed a little. "She is quite the bold one, is she not?" The black haired woman helped me up. "And quite nosey at times. Almost every 'paranormal being' in Teltow knows about the Deviel mother and daughter. After all, 't is not common to see demons around this day and age."
"And what have you to do with this?" I was still very confused.
"I am but a humble vampire, which strives to end the suffering of those who were forced to reside in the shadows." She smiled at me, as it got wider and her scar exposed her upper and lower fangs.
My heart sank as cold panic started to rise within me. "You're a vampire?"
"Do not worry young one, for I do not belong to the ruthless kind." She smiled softly at me now. We exited the school grounds, the sun making the pavement glisten. "We has't ways now, which go beyond feasting from the living."
"And the sun?" I asked, calmer, but still worried for her. "Doesn't it hurt you?"
"I wast born in the dessert of the Sahara, or at least, what human kind hath chosen to calleth 't ages later." Her gaze was directed on the way we were going. "I hath grown up with 't, so 't does not harm me."
My head was swirling with all these new information and yet, I was fascinated. Fascinated by the world that had opened up before my eyes. There were so many things I didn't know. All those legends about age old vampires living in coffins and walking the night seemed more real than just a bedtime story. They started to come to live. The pictures moved in front of my eyes like a movie. A movie brought into reality. It was surreal.
"Then... how old are you?" I asked her, my mind still clouded. "Is Kara even your real name?"
She chuckled. "I may not be as old as human kind, though I came to be long ere thy year of zero hit." Her yellow eyes found mine. "I has't many names and all ring true. However, Kara is the name I hath chosen for myself at which hour I came to Europe in this new age."
Her eyes moved forward. I jumped at a loud barking sound. The neighbour's dog was outside again. Slowly, I freed myself from her help.
"Thank you Kara, I hope I didn't bother you too much." I said, feeling my point of gravity shift, but I stood firm.
"Thou art not a bother, young Hector." She smiled at me. "Mine own shift has't yet to begin, so 't wast a pleasure of mine."
I nodded, unsure of what to say. She gave me another soft smile.
