"Sorry for interjecting myself, but this is a thing that is going to happen." A well-known voice stepped up and Melanie suddenly stood next to us.
"You probably heard your name..." Rose was still paler than the white wall behind her. "I don't blame you."
"My half demonic senses are still strong enough to catch a conversation from five hundred meters away, so it wasn't necessary you saying my name." Melanie shrugged before looking at me. "I know about the documents as well. My mother is terrible at keeping secrets to either me or my father when asked, so here I am. I agree, we can't just sit there and do nothing, but this isn't an anime where a bunch of high schoolers... and middle schoolers go out and save the day. Behind this hunter society stands the government and that is even too big for me to imagen."
"What?" Rose's eyes went wide and so did mine.
"The government?" I asked her in disbelieve.
"Sure." Melanie shrugged again. "Who do you think would organize such a thing? A hidden society? Na brother, sister, the government eradicated all of those a long time ago. You should know about this Rose. Your family was one of them."
"I..." Rose began, but her voice seemingly died in her throat.
My gaze flicked in between Melanie's dark green and bright blue one, before landing on the green blue ones of Rose. My heart sunk, stomach churning.
"What... what's going on?" Another voice appeared.
Surprised, Rose and I looked at Sherry, Kuro and Lenny who stood not too far away from us. I bit my teeth together as I nearly blacked out, though I kept myself together. Melanie turned toward the rest of our friends.
"Sorry, for keeping this for so long." Melanie was the calm in this storm. "It's time for you to learn the truth that you should have gained ever since we've became friends. Rose here..." Melanie raised her hand in the direction of the maroon haired girl, who looked to the ground, too ashamed to look at her friends. "...Is a mind reading psychic. And I am..." She pointed at herself. "...half human and half demon."
Silence hung over the group. Sherry had a sceptical look on her face. The draining colour on her cheeks however told me, she soon recognised Melanie was not joking. Kuro on the other hand, was Kuro.
"You're what now?" Her eyes were wide.
"You aren't human either?" Lenny suddenly spoke up, eyes just as wide.
"You're WHAT now?!" Kuro now had even bigger eyes while looking at Lenny, who shrunk further under her gaze. "So let me get this straight..." She put her hands together, before pointing them around. "You're not human, you're not human and you're not human?"
"I'm half human, actually." Melanie spoke up with a thin smile, but got ignored by Kuro.
"Are there anymore none humans I should know about?" Kuro had her arms in the air, still somehow keeping her voice down to a moderate level.
"Around ninety-nine percent of the world's population, actually." Lenny shyly raised his hand. "With fungi, bacteria and all that included."
Kuro let her arms sink, thought for a second, and then nodded. "Seems legit. Then what are you?" She looked at Lenny, who shrunk again.
"A dream eater, but can we discuss this another time." He said meekly. "Is this about the documents?"
"Documents?" Sherry shook her head. Gaining a quick summary from Melanie, Sherry shook her head, fingers massaging the side of her head. "Okay, wait. You're telling me that there are creatures out there that look like humans, but they are not? And the government is set on destroying them?"
