Part 2: Two Strangers

You literally fell into the bush beside you, escaping the young man's gaze. Though it had only been a second or two, his strict jaw and softened eyes combo was burnt into your brain... You couldn't think of the last time you genuinely thought a guy was cute.

"He- hey!! How much of that did you hear!?" The man's brows furrowed, embarrassment taking over his mind. Not nearly as embarrassed as you, however! You pulled your legs in after you behind the bush, thorns nagging at your basic brown, half rolled up pants. "Listen, if you don't come out of here by the time I could to three..." The man threatened. Your own brows furrowed. Who did this man think he was to command you like this?! "1..." You wouldn't! As used to being bossed around you were, you just couldn't let this man think you were the pushy type! It was embarrassing enough that you were here in the first place! "2..." Eyes widening slightly, you also feared what the man could do to you if you didn't listen. He did have a sheathed sword on his hip.. after all. "...thr-"

You felt out of the bushes, again literally, rolling into a shallow puddle of mud. Gooey lake weeds and marshy grasses also stuck to your face, covering just how red it was. The man froze for a second, amazed at the sight of you so clumsily slipping to stand up from the mud. After a moment, his blue eyes turned from the sky, erupting in laughter so bad his arms clutched his chest. "It's just a little fella!" You growled, finally standing properly. He looked like he was about to say something more...but you gave him no time to do that. "HAHAHA- AA!" You tackled the guy, teaching him a lesson by forcing him to join you in the muck. With satisfaction, you rose over the once laughing one as his body and face were now covered in mud like you. "WHAT THE HECK?!" Definitely not expecting that. His eyes darted your way the moment he heard you snicker overhead. "Ohh, well I see how it is~" Standing up. So close, it was obvious how much taller he was compared to you. "...Well since we're both dirty..why don't we just-!?" Arms wrapped around your waist tightly and your heart leapt as you were thrown into the water..the other dragging you down in with him. Once submerged, the arms released you, allowing you to scramble to the surface. You broke from the water gasping and panting.

"HAA..HAHAHA!" The young man beside you quickly returned to laughing. Angry and flustered, you sent one petty splash his way before struggling onto your feet again. The young man choked on the water you had splashed into his mouth as you struggled up and away again. "Ohhh boy!.. Hah! Who knew it was the cute one that would topple the mighty He- St-steve!" The man laughed as he sat in the pond, only his upper half visible. You spun around, blushing angrily.

"I'M N-OT CUTE!" You squeaked several decibels higher than usual. The man wheezed, folding over his submerged lap. For a brief moment, you worried he might inhale the liquid.

"Awwh.. That was so precious!" His smile widened involuntarily so much it hurt, enamor filled voice not helping any with your blushing and shaky feeling inside.

Spinning around in the water, you started trudging through it away from him.

Your right boot planted itself deeply in the gooey mud. You attempted to pull it out several times... Wouldn't budge...

"Need any help?" The man asked as he pushed himself up, dripping wet like you. Soon he was standing beside you, looking down at your uneven footing. You only whimpered quietly, not wanting to lose the boot in the mud. "Here. Just.." Two of his hands gripped one of your wrists. Before you could protest, he yanked you from the mud with ease.

"NO-O!" Not used to speaking, much less yelling, your voice cracked as you spun back to the boot. In horror, you saw only bubbles rising from the mud. Noticing pain having suddenly overtaken your eyes, the man leaned slightly, confused and empathetically expressing worry for you.
