That scar had been given to him by none other than the famous Technoblade- king of Minecraft and the well-known anarchist and PVPer. To have even challenged Techno was a mark of how crazy Quackity could be- and also how scary he was.
Foolish's hands shook slightly as he placed his last card, before Charlie started speaking again. "Right, for those of you who don't know... the rules of Platoon are fairly simple. Ten cards are dealt to each player, they then have to place each of their cards into five different units. These units are what you will use to battle. There are two different types of cards, regular cards- and special cards. Normal cards consist of all the normal suits from two to Queen. These are called pawns, with the cards from two to ten being worth their face value, while Queens and Jacks are both equal to ten. Special cards come in three types: King, Ace, and Jokers. If you have a king in your unit you will almost always win, unless the opposing unit also has a king. Then whichever one has the highest total value of pawns will win, like normal. The Ace has the opposite effect- meaning that any unit containing one will always lose. There is however one exception to this- if the opposing unit contains a king then the unit containing a Ace will win. If two units with Ace's face each other, then whichever has the highest value number if pawns will win, similar to if two kings were to face each other. Finally there's the Joker card. This card will switch your unit with your opponents regardless of the pawn's value. Then whoever has the highest number will win! However- Joker cards themselves have a total value of zero, so you can't put them in a unit on their own. They need pawns to sport them. Finally: the total number of special cards you can have in any unit is two. In addition, you cannot place a King and an Ace in the same unit." Charlie took a breath, looking around at the eager crown that had gathered. For someone to dare to challenge the king of gambling was quite a spectacle- so naturally a good half of the town had gathered around, eager to see Quackity's opponent get destroyed.
"Now both people will draw a card from the deck- whoever has the highest value will go first." They each drew from the deck, holding their cards. "One... two... three... go!" Charlie exclaimed, as both men flicked their wrists down, revealing the card's faces to the surrounding crowd. "And Quackity gets to go first! He pulled a five of hearts - while Foolish Gaming has pulled a two of spades!" some small mumbles came from the crowd, but then died out as the dealer started speaking again. "Right," he continued." now that you two are ready- it's time to predict a victor!" The crowd shifted, trying to get a better look at the table that the cards were placed on, in five piles of differing amounts and face-down in front of their player, both of who studied each other- trying to read what was in the other's units on their face.
"Now- you each need to pick one of the units on the table- either your own or your opponents- and mark which one you think will emerge victorious!"
The two men didn't move for a second, before Quackity reached for one of Follish's units, placing a mark on a card before raising his eyebrows at Foolish, who did the same, picking one of Quackity's.
"Now then- with all the preliminaries taken care of- let the battle commence!" Quackity quickly reached out, grabbing one of his own and Foolish's units, the ones they had marked a minute before. Charlie reached down and flipped them both over, revealing the numbers. "And Quackity has nine of hearts- whereas Foolish has four of spades and a Joker card! Due to the Joker's ability however- '' the dealer bent over the table, rearranging the cards to resemble what was going on in the game, the joker now on Quackity's side of the board. "Quackity lost this round! however... Normally- since Quackity's prediction was correct, he would gain a bonus of half the original wager on top of the winnings! But as both of you have gone all in- the casino is going to provide this." Charlie then took from under the table a bag, which appeared to be full of chips. This is five thousand- if Quackity wins he will gain this as well as his winnings from Foolish." the crowd gasped, getting an idea now of how big of a wager this was. That was a whole life's fortune- to be gambling ten thousand like it was nothing, anyone with the slightest bit of sanity would never do that on their own accord, it was madness! You had to feel sorry for Foolish, if he lost- he would be reduced to nothing.
The dealer placed a hand on the bag, smirking slightly. "Now- the game is whoever gets to three victories first.. and it's Foolish's turn with one victory, Quackity with zero! With the original predictions out of the way nice and early..." Charlie trailed off.
"Really all that's on the line now is your life..." Said Quackity, leaning in towards Foolish a bit, who shook slightly, but kept his cool. "We'll see about that Big Q.'' he stated, grabbing a unit from each of them, before Charlie started speaking again.
"One... two... three... go!" once again their wrist's flicked down, revealing their hands. "AAAND QUACKITY WINS! With a Queen of hearts and a four of spades, while Foolish has an Ace and a two of hearts! The score is now one to one~" Charlie seemed to be enjoying himself quite a bit, his voice getting a little higher with each announcement.
"And now onto the next round!" Quackity looked over the units carefully, calculating. "These." he stated, grabbing two more units. As Charlie started counting down.
"ANOTHER WIN FOR QUACKITY! With his total adding up to twenty with no peacal cards- and Foolish having a pawn total of ten!" The next round was around the same- Quackity's total adding to six pawns, with a king. Foolish also pulled a king- his pawn total adding up to five. Foolish's eyes widened, noticing the direction this was going, if Quality won again... he was gone. Dust.
"AND THAT'S THE THIRD WIN FOR QUACKITY! FOOLISH GAMING HAS LOST THE BET!"
Foolish had helped build this city, he had been in Las Nevadas since the beginning, he had constructed and designed the casino he was now stumbling out of, a build he would probably never be able to look back on. He lost everything- the most prominent of those being his pride. Now he would never be able to look his friend- and opponent, in the eyes ever again. It had been so stupid, he would never be able to fully recover from the bet that he had made and lost.
Foolish stood out in the rain, the booming of music from a nearby club ringing through his head- it felt like it was vibrating his skull as the rain fell down on his head, soaking his hair and clothes till he was chilled to the bone.
The sound met his ears, muffled by the rain as a sudden blow landed on the man's shoulder, knocking him off balance as he was suddenly grabbed, being pulled into an alleyway as his mouth was covered, and a silvery blade was put to his throat, his night really couldn't get worse could it? The man who was holding him slowly stepped around, shifting into the light just enough for Foolish to see his face. He gasped- spluttering something as the hand was removed from his mouth.
"B-but you're supposed t-to be..."
"Dead?" suggested Wilbur Soot, a smile gracing his lips as water slowly ran down his face, hiding the tear stains that seemed to be permanently etched onto his pale face. "I heard your loss- sounds rough..." he said casually, as though making pleasant conversation- ignoring the fact that he was holding a knife to Foolish's air-pipe. "Annyway, I wanted to ask you something. How do I gain citizenship?" Wilbur asked, still smiling.
